Threads of Time

So many years slipped through my hands,

measured in meals, in mornings, in waiting.

I trace them now like worn threads of cloth,

frayed, familiar, but mine all the same.

They shaped a woman I barely knew,

time carved me harder, tempered and true-

I carry both the loss and the gain.

This imagery resonates deeply, reminding me of how life’s subtle moments—whether meals shared, mornings endured, or periods of waiting—contribute to our evolving self. Beyond the poetic lines, I found myself contemplating how loss and gain coexist in shaping our character, reinforcing that every experience, whether challenging or joyful, leaves an indelible mark. In my experience, embracing both sides of this balance has been crucial for growth. Just like the poem suggests, time tempers us, carving resilience and truth into our being. It's fascinating how poetry can so beautifully articulate these universal truths, encouraging readers to pause and appreciate their own threads of time, woven through everyday life.
