Most People don’t Quit Jobs, they Quit Bosses 🤬

Hey SGFC Fam! 👋

Happy Monday, and I hope you guys had an awesomeeee weekend! 😘

Having experienced it myself more than once, and creening over 10,000 profiles throughout my career, I’ve noticed a common pattern.

- People don’t quit jobs. They quit bosses.

And here’s the harsh reality.

You can rarely change a bad leader.

Most organizations (not all) only start taking feedback seriously when things have already gone VERY wrong - attrition spikes, morale tanks, or key people leave.

That’s why if you’re stuck under a bad boss, don’t spend years convincing yourself that they’ll eventually change.

The healthier question isn’t, “How do I fix my boss?” You’re not Bob the Builder

It’s, “How long am I willing to let this situation affect my confidence, mental health, and quality of life?”

Bad bosses don’t just impact your work.

They impact your sleep, relationships, confidence, and eventually how you see yourself.

And that’s a much bigger price to pay than most people realize. ❤️

... Read moreFrom my own experience and countless conversations with professionals, the statement "people don't quit jobs, they quit bosses" truly resonates. I've seen situations where the workload was high but manageable because the leader was empathic, supportive, and patient. This kind of leadership creates an environment where employees feel safe to learn and grow, even under pressure. Bad bosses often don't just cause frustration at work—they can deeply affect your mental health. Anxiety, low self-esteem, sleep issues, and increased stress are common side effects. This not only impacts job performance but also spills over into personal life, straining relationships and diminishing overall happiness. One key point is recognizing early signs that a boss may be toxic before it takes a heavy toll. These signs include constant criticism without constructive feedback, unrealistic expectations without support, and lack of respect or recognition. When you identify these behaviors, it's essential to assess how long you want to endure them because waiting for a bad leader to change is often futile. On the flip side, a strong leader doesn't have to have all the answers but must lead with empathy and create a supportive atmosphere. Good bosses encourage open communication, guide with patience, and help you develop professionally. This support can save years of career struggles by minimizing trial and error and boosting confidence. For those currently in leadership roles, remember your impact goes beyond KPIs and project deadlines. How you make your team feel will be remembered long after your tenure ends. Building trust and empathy is the true mark of successful leadership. In conclusion, if you find yourself dreading Mondays or feeling drained, it’s worth reflecting on your boss's role in your experience. Prioritizing your mental health and job satisfaction is crucial. Sometimes, seeking new opportunities under better leadership is the best choice for your well-being and career growth.
