My daughters’ portfolio is now worth $81,000! 💅🏼🥳

Hey SGFC Fam!

It’s one more day to FRIYAY! 🎉 Hope you guys are doing great!!

As the adults combined net worth crossed $2 million this month, happy to share that my girls’ investment portfolio has also crossed $80,000 for the first time. 🥹

I think we can all agree that as parents, I think all of us just want to give our kids a head start in life.

📚Some invest in academics.

🏀Some in sports for DSA.

🏠Some buy property.

📈Some invest in stocks.

For me, I chose the lane that I understand best and believe is the most practical.

To be honest, my dream was never to become a salesperson. I wanted to be a wedding planner. Later on, that dream became being a motivational speaker.

But I chose money instead.

Not because I loved it more, but because I wanted financial security.

That’s the narrative I hope to change for my daughters.

I want them to have the freedom to choose work they genuinely love, instead of choosing a career simply because it pays the bills.

If they want to become a ballet dancer, go for it.

If they want to become a hairstylist, Daddy will support you.

Because my dream isn’t to leave them with endless wealth.

My dream is to leave them with the freedom to choose.

The generation of money worries stops with me. 💛

... Read moreStarting early is one of the greatest advantages in growing wealth, especially for children. Since January 2022, when my first daughter Meimei arrived, we began investing for both her and her older sister. We started with a lump sum of S$5,000 and committed to a consistent monthly Dollar-Cost Averaging (DCA) approach of S$900, split equally between my wife, rental income, and myself. This disciplined investing method has allowed the portfolio to grow to approximately S$81,000 within just a few years, with an unrealized profit of around 43%. One key to success has been taking advantage of market dips by topping up investments during corrections. This strategy helps lower the average purchase price, increasing the potential for future gains. We have invested primarily in the US stock market due to its long-term growth potential and volatility tolerance suited for the long investment horizon until my daughters reach adulthood. Importantly, the brokerage accounts are held under my name at SYFE, but solely dedicated to their portfolio to maintain clear oversight of their investments. We view this as a head start to give them financial security and freedom of choice in life, rather than just leaving a large sum of wealth without guidance. Before passing over the portfolio, we plan to assess their financial literacy to ensure they understand how to manage and grow their assets responsibly. Our ultimate goal is to reach around $300,000 by 2040 when they turn 21 and 18, with projections indicating it could grow over $1 million by their early 30s. This approach has not only allowed us to build wealth but has also given me peace of mind that the next generation can focus on pursuing what they love without financial pressure. Whether my daughters choose ballet, hairstyling, or any other passion, this intentional investing strategy lays the foundation for their future freedom and options.

Hi! I could see that you're on Syfe. I'm not earning very slowly on dividends... but I'd be nice if I could grow it faster like yours. Mind sharing what specifically you invest in? Or was it on the Cash+ Flexi, or Cash+ Guaranteed, or Income+ Enhance??
