One of my fav knee exs!. Trains the quads, hamstrings, gluts and even the Core!
From my experience, incorporating knee exercises that engage multiple muscle groups like the quads, hamstrings, glutes, and core is crucial for overall knee health and injury prevention. One effective move I've relied on involves controlled lunges with attention to form – keeping the back leg heel lifted and the knee passing just in front of the toes ensures proper alignment and maximizes muscle activation. Adding a small object under your heel can enhance stability, especially when you're building strength or rehabbing an injury. I also recommend focusing on hip flexibility alongside knee strengthening, as a flexible hip contributes significantly to proper knee mechanics. Stretching the hip flexors during these exercises has helped me prevent stiffness and improve my squat depth. Performing 3 to 4 sets of 5 to 10 reps on both legs balances strength evenly, reducing the risk of compensation injuries. Using a suitable platform height or step helps tailor the intensity to your current fitness level. Consistency and gradual progression have been key in my journey to stronger knees. Also, listening to your body and avoiding pushing through pain allows safe improvements. Following these tips has not only enhanced my knee strength but also improved my overall mobility and reduced discomfort during daily activities.
