I finally finished it! This #stainedglass piece is roughly 12x24", has a zinc came border, and sturdy hanging chain. It has well over 120 pieces of glass, some textured, some iridescent. It was my first time doing this, and I overdid it with something this large. 😅 I'm really proud of myself for finishing it! I have no idea what price to list something like this for though. 🤔
Do you guys like this? what do you think a fair price would be?
Creating a stained glass piece like this one is truly an art form that blends patience, skill, and creativity. With over 120 individual pieces of glass, including iridescent and textured varieties, this project required meticulous cutting, shaping, and assembly. One key element that adds both strength and elegance is the zinc came border, which frames the artwork while providing structural stability. The addition of a sturdy hanging chain ensures the piece is display-ready and secure when installed. For beginners attempting a similar large-scale stained glass project—roughly 12x24 inches—it's important to plan carefully and consider the complexities of working with diverse glass textures and finishes. Iridescent glass, which shifts color depending on light and angle, adds beautiful depth but requires thoughtful placement to maximize its visual impact. When it comes to valuation, pricing handmade stained glass works involves factoring in the cost of materials, tools, and time spent. Given the size and complexity of a piece with over 120 glass sections soldered, cleaned, and waxed, prices typically range according to craftsmanship, uniqueness, and local market demand. Researching comparable artworks in online artisan marketplaces can provide benchmarks, but ultimately, your pricing should reflect your skill and labor investment. Both sides of the piece are visually appealing—the front showcasing more texture and the reverse offering a smoother finish—giving versatility in display options. Careful soldering, cleaning, and waxing contribute not only to the aesthetics but also to durability and longevity of the stained glass. For those passionate about stained glass, embracing projects of increasing size and detail builds technical expertise and artistic confidence. Sharing your work within communities can not only gain valuable feedback about pricing but also connect you with collectors and fellow artists who appreciate the magic of this timeless craft.
