Is this heat rash?
My little nephew was totally fine this morning. Around 10:30, my mom mentioned the baby seemed hot. I was swamped, so I asked her to undo the baby’s clothes buttons. Just ten minutes later, when I finally changed the baby’s outfit, there were these red patches. Now I’m panicking, is this heat rash? Did my delay in changing clothes cause this? I feel awful. How do I talk this out to my sis...
Heat rash, also known as prickly heat, occurs when sweat gets trapped in the skin and can lead to uncomfortable red patches. It's especially common in hot weather or after heavy activity. When babies are overdressed or not ventilated properly, they can easily succumb to this condition. To prevent heat rash, dress your baby in lightweight, breathable clothing and keep them cool, especially in warm environments. If you notice red spots, ensure the affected area is cool and dry. Applying a gentle, hypoallergenic lotion can help soothe the irritation. If the rash persists or you observe signs of infection such as increased redness or pus, consult a pediatrician promptly for further guidance. Communicating your concerns effectively with family can alleviate worries. Share observations and seek advice from healthcare professionals to ensure your baby's comfort and well-being.
