“Self-Love Isn’t a Buzzword—It’s a Boundary.”
Day 2 of my I Love Me More journey, and Chapter 1 already has me rethinking everything I thought I knew about self-love.
Jenna Banks said, “The more we love ourselves, the less we tolerate anything that doesn’t honor that love.”
That one line stopped me in my tracks.
Because here’s the truth: I’ve tolerated a lot in the name of “understanding,” “patience,” or “not wanting to lose someone.”
But none of that honored me. It drained me. And that’s not love.
🖊️ Chapter 1 reminded me that real self-love is quiet, steady, and non-negotiable.
It’s boundaries. It’s choosing your peace over performance.
It’s no longer betraying yourself to make someone else comfortable.
Here are the three takeaways I’m holding onto today:
1. Self-love is survival—not selfishness.
2. Your relationship with yourself sets the tone for every relationship you have.
3. You can’t expect others to honor your worth if you keep abandoning it.
I used to think choosing me meant losing others. Now I’m realizing choosing me is how I stop losing myself.

📓 Journal Prompts I’m Reflecting On:
• What does loving me really look like now?
• Where have I tolerated less than I deserve?
• What boundary can I set this week that proves I’ve changed?

If you’re in the middle of your healing, rebuilding, or soft reset era—let’s grow together. This journey is personal, but it doesn’t have to be lonely.

Self-love is often misunderstood as merely a feel-good buzzword or a set of superficial rituals. However, the deeper truth lies in recognizing self-love as a critical boundary that preserves your mental and emotional health. As highlighted by Jenna Banks, "The more we love ourselves, the less we tolerate anything that doesn’t honor that love." This foundational insight reflects that self-love is not selfish but essential for survival. Without it, we risk depleting our energy by tolerating harmful behaviors under the guise of patience or fear of loss. True self-love manifests as steady, quiet, and non-negotiable boundaries—choices that prioritize your peace rather than seeking approval or performing for others. This approach transforms the way you interact with yourself and those around you. When you respect and honor your worth, it sets the tone for all your relationships; abandoning yourself inevitably leads others to do the same. To cultivate this authentic self-love, it is important to engage in reflective practices, such as journaling with prompts like: "What does loving myself really look like now?", "Where have I tolerated less than I deserve?", and "What boundary can I set this week that proves I’ve changed?" These questions facilitate introspection and actionable growth. Incorporating boundaries as acts of love helps move beyond simple self-care to what can be described as self-respect rituals. These are commitments that protect your energy and nurture your identity, especially during phases of healing, rebuilding, or soft resets in your personal journey. Ultimately, choosing yourself is not about losing connections but about preserving your essence. It empowers you to grow without loneliness and live intentionally. Embracing self-love as a boundary can transform survival into thriving and foster healthier, more respectful relationships across all facets of life.
