Breaking Destructive Patterns One Book at a Time 📚

Currently reading: Toxic No More

Right now I’m in phase 2 of my healing journey.

Phase 1 taught me about detachment and understanding my attachment patterns.

Now I’m learning how to overcome destructive patterns while practicing the first agreement from The Four Agreements:

Be impeccable with your words.

Today’s reminder from my deck card says:

“Your word is the power that you have to create.”

That made me think about how often destructive patterns show up not only in our actions, but also in the way we speak — to others and to ourselves.

Right now I’m focusing on:

• recognizing unhealthy cycles

• choosing better responses

• becoming more mindful with my words

Healing doesn’t happen all at once.

Sometimes it starts with simply becoming aware of the pattern.

It’s easy to overlook the impact of our words—both spoken to others and to ourselves—on perpetuating toxic cycles. When I started focusing on being impeccable with my words, as the reminder from my deck card highlights, I noticed a shift not only in my interactions but also in my self-talk. Words are incredibly powerful; they shape our mindset and can either reinforce old patterns or help dissolve them. Practicing mindfulness in how I respond, rather than react, has been key. Instead of falling into automatic negative responses, pausing to consider healthier, kinder replies has gradually changed my relationships and inner dialogue. Additionally, reading strategies from 'Toxic No More' offered practical tools, like recognizing triggers and strengthening emotional intelligence, which support sustained healing. Healing is definitely a process that happens in phases—my own Phase 1 helped me detach and observe my attachment styles, while Phase 2 is all about transforming and acting differently. I encourage anyone on a similar path to remember that progress might be slow but even simple acts like choosing better words each day create powerful ripples. Your words truly are a gift, as reminded in the book and my daily affirmation—using that gift wisely is a vital step in breaking free from toxic patterns and building healthy, strong relationships.
