I'm eating my words with this one 🤣
Okay, real talk, when I first started Warframe, I saw Cryotic drops and honestly thought, "I definitely do not need this!" It felt like just another resource. But oh boy, was I wrong! As I progressed, tackling intricate weapon crafting, Prime Warframe components, and even certain Dojo research, Cryotic became one of those resources I suddenly couldn't get enough of. I remember hitting a wall trying to build something cool and realizing I needed thousands of Cryotic. That's when I had to eat my words and figure out the best way to farm it fast. So, what exactly is Cryotic used for? It's essential for crafting a wide array of items. Think about all those cool weapons like the Galatine Prime or certain Archwing parts – many require a hefty dose of Cryotic. It's also crucial for building certain Warframes (like Limbo!) and contributing to clan research in your Dojo. You'll find yourself needing it for Void Relic refinements, too. Basically, it’s a core component you’ll always deplete, so having a solid farming strategy is key. My absolute go-to method for accumulating Cryotic quickly is Excavation Missions. As the OCR mentioned, these are available on planets like Earth, Phobos, Europa, and Neptune. The trick is to stay as long as you can manage, because the rewards scale up. Here’s how I tackle it to get those massive hauls (like aiming for 4,000+ Cryotic in a single run!). First, let's talk about Warframe choices. You need frames that can protect the excavators and control enemies. Frost is a classic for his Snow Globe, which offers excellent excavator protection. Limbo is another fantastic choice; his Cataclysm can freeze enemies and protect the excavator. Gara’s Mass Vitrify is also amazing for creating an impenetrable barrier. If you're looking for crowd control, Khora's Strangledome keeps enemies off your point, while Vauban's Bastille can suspend them. For clearing hordes, Saryn, Ember, or Mesa can dispatch enemies before they even get close enough to damage your excavators. Next, power management is crucial. Excavators constantly drain power, and you need to feed them power cells dropped by enemies. An Energy Siphon aura helps, but bringing Energy Restores (energy pizzas) is a game-changer, especially in longer runs. If you have the Zenurik Focus school unlocked, its energy regeneration is incredibly helpful for keeping your abilities active and thus your excavators alive. When it comes to specific nodes, while the OCR mentions general planets, for me, Hieracon on Pluto is the gold standard for high-level Cryotic farming because of its consistent enemy spawns and reward rotations. Other good options include Tikal on Earth for lower-level farming, or even Europa for a mid-tier challenge. The general strategy is to keep at least two excavators active at all times, rotating your defense as needed. In a squad, assign roles: one person on power cell collection, others on defense and enemy clear. If you're solo, you'll need a highly self-sufficient build capable of both defense and offense. Finally, always bring a Resource Booster if you have one! This doubles your Cryotic drops, making your farming sessions incredibly efficient. While Nekros's Desecrate doesn't directly affect Cryotic drops (as it's a mission reward, not a mob drop), having a good squad that ensures you successfully extract with high numbers is paramount. I went from avoiding Cryotic missions to actively seeking them out thanks to these methods, and now I never run out!
