This one is for the ladies trying to tone arms

Isolate the triceps to build some upper arm muscle and firm up those bat wings.

Think of the movement as if you were standing and pushing yourself up on the side of a swimming pool.

You naturally tighten all other joints before pushing up with your triceps.

✅ DO: Start with stance shoulder and hip engaged and core holding spine in neutral alignment with ears in line with shoulders and hips.

🚫 DONT: Let your stance arm and leg be sloppy and core disengaged (this is the basis for the movement) with neck flexed or extended.

✅ DO: Hold shoulder and elbow at 90 degrees and extend your arm, moving only at the elbow.

🚫 DONT: Let your shoulder drop and fling your weight back, letting your wrist swing the dumbbell.

✅ DO: Lower back to 90/90 slowly, with contral.

🚫 DONT: Let the weight drop back down and swing your arm forward.

... Read moreAs someone who's focused on toning my arms, I've found that mastering the triceps kickback really transformed my workouts. The key is strict form—keeping your shoulder and elbow fixed at 90 degrees while extending only your elbow ensures the triceps do all the work rather than letting other muscles take over. This isolation helps build firm muscle and reduce that excess flab often called "bat wings." It’s also crucial to engage your core and stabilize your stance during the movement. I used to rush through reps and neglect core activation, which led to poor posture and decreased effectiveness. Now, I always start with a neutral spine and ears aligned with shoulders and hips, which improves my balance and focus on the triceps. Controlling the motion is another game changer. Lowering the weight back slowly rather than letting it drop helps maintain constant tension in the muscle and reduces risk of injury. I noticed better muscle definition when I slowed down and really felt each rep. Integrating this triceps kickback into my routine alongside other arm exercises and a balanced diet has helped me see noticeable toning results. If you want to enhance your arm workouts, focusing on these form tips will make a big difference in building defined and strong triceps.
