Banana Pudding From Scratch Recipe 👇🏾

Let me tell y'all l used one banana

I do not like

all them bananas in my pudding like that 😂. Recipe: 4 egg yolks, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 2 cups of milk. Can be whole milk or evaporated. 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. I used vanilla bean paste and extract. 2 Tablespoons of cornstarch but can use self rising flour. Put everything into medium size pot except vanilla extract. Whisk until everything is combined. Put the heat on low to medium, constantly stir until the mixture thickens.

When the pudding has thickened remove from heat add vanilla extract. Layer the bottom your dish with cookies then bananas, then pour half the pudding on top. Repeat for the second laver. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours or more. Enjoy!

... Read moreBanana pudding is a classic Southern dessert loved for its creamy texture and sweet banana flavor, but many people have different preferences about the amount of banana used. Using just one banana, as suggested in this recipe, allows for a mild banana essence without overwhelming the dessert. The recipe cleverly combines 4 egg yolks and cornstarch to create a thick custard base, which is more robust than pudding mixes and ensures a rich texture. Vanilla is key in banana pudding, and this recipe’s use of both vanilla bean paste and vanilla extract intensifies the aroma and flavor, making the pudding extra fragrant and inviting. You don’t need to use evaporated milk specifically; regular whole milk works beautifully to provide creaminess. Layering is an essential step here: starting with a base layer of cookies—such as classic Nilla wafers—then adding sliced bananas before pouring the pudding on top guarantees every bite has a perfect balance of crunchy cookie, soft banana, and smooth pudding. Repeating the layers adds depth and sustains flavor throughout the dish. For the best results, refrigerate the pudding for at least 3 hours. This resting time lets the cookies absorb moisture and soften slightly, creating that signature pudding consistency loved by many. Using self-rising flour in place of cornstarch is an alternative thickener, but cornstarch is preferred for a less dense texture. This recipe is ideal for those who enjoy a homemade dessert without too many bananas overpowering the taste, as well as those seeking a from-scratch version with pantry staples. Enjoy this banana pudding as a comforting treat or an easy dessert to impress friends and family!
