Day 2 at new apt: a partially built sleeper sofa
Day two at the new apartment was a long day of waiting for my IKEA sleeper sofa to arrive and then when it finally got to me AFTER the delivery window, there was nearly 4 hours of putting it together solo. The sofa bit is done, the sleeper bit I had to admit defeat on, it’s too heavy by my onesies so I’ll have to wait for back up in a few days to get me sorted.
The crazy thing is, I almost always put our furniture together by myself before my husband died and now that he is gone-gone, I’m finding old tasks very difficult solo. That being said, this is proper heavy and he would have had to step in to help me if he was still around. It’s just a frustrating thing to feel like there is gonna be times. I need somebody else to help me in this widow life.
Asking for help as a hyper-independent yet people pleasing Mixed-Black-Japanese, is not exactly in line with my trauma, my personality or my cultures.
More furniture comes Monday. Hopefully, it’ll feel like a home soon.
