i honestly LOVE my natural curls!! my hair was naturally straight until i hit puberty and it started to get some waves in it more and more, and now i’m full curly!
🚿my main struggles are the consistency and the time it takes to dry!! i have a pretty busy schedule and if styling and diffusing takes 1-2 hours plus the time in the shower doing a full wash day… i often don’t have time for that. plus add in time to oil my hair beforehand & extra time in the shower to do a hair mask or deep conditioning treatment that my hair loves.
🧖🏼♀️even when i take the time to do a full wash day and style my hair and give it the products and everything that it needs. it doesn’t always dry the exact way. and half the time the next morning i’ve lost so much definition and hold which does not make spending hours on a wash day worth it.
🤷🏼♀️sometimes it’s just easier to throw my wet hair in 1 braid or 2 and call it a day and have waves the next 2-3 days anyways. i definitely think that dries out my hair, but this way my curls and waves last longer and take way less time after washing!!
🙃i guess i wish i was better at drying my curly hair or many need some different products. my curl pattern is just tricky bc if i do nothing to my wet hair it poofs and gets half curly half straight, and i have to help it with products and drying techniques to get it to hold and look defined :/
long story short i love love love my natural hair but honestly don’t have time for it. when i do get a chance to have a full wash and dry day i love it especially when i can get the curls to last multiple days🫶🏼
... Read moreHaving curly hair can be both rewarding and challenging, as many curly-haired individuals know. The transition from straight to curly hair can be unexpected, presenting unique styling and care needs. Here are some effective tips to help manage the intricacies of curly hair:
1. **Invest in the Right Products**: Look for shampoos and conditioners designed for curly hair. These products often contain moisturizing ingredients that help define curls and reduce frizz. Deep conditioning treatments and leave-in conditioners can also enhance moisture levels.
2. **Understand Your Curl Type**: Curls can vary from loose waves to tight coils. Understanding your specific curl type helps in choosing the right products and techniques for optimal care and styling.
3. **Develop a Consistent Routine**: While life can be busy, establishing a regular hair care routine can make a difference. Set aside dedicated wash days and stick to a regimen that works for your curl pattern.
4. **Embrace Air Drying or Diffusing**: If time permits, let your curls air dry. Alternatively, using a diffuser can speed up drying time while enhancing your natural curl pattern. Avoid towel drying with regular towels; instead, consider using a microfiber towel or an old t-shirt to minimize frizz.
5. **Experiment with Protective Styles**: When short on time, protective styles—like braids or buns—can not only be stylish but also help maintain curls while preventing damage.
6. **Stay Hydrated and Healthy**: Hydration is key for healthy curls. Drink plenty of water and eat a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals to support hair health.
By adopting these tips, you can make the most of your natural curls while minimizing styling struggles, ultimately allowing you to enjoy your hair without it consuming your time.
