Empowering Africa’s Youth : AI & Digital Skills
Despite being abroad, my heart, my work, and my commitment remain deeply connected to Cameroon and to Africa.
My mission is to use my experience in technology, media, and education to help our youth, our students, and our professionals prepare for the future — especially in the era of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
I strongly believe that Africa’s greatest resource is not oil, not minerals — but its people, especially its young population.
When our youth are properly educated, digitally skilled, and ethically grounded, they can compete globally while still building locally.
Africa’s future is not resources.

Having observed the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence and digital technologies globally, I have come to appreciate how vital it is for Africa’s youth to be equipped with relevant skills to thrive in the future workforce. In my own experience working with young professionals from Cameroon and across Africa, I have witnessed that beyond formal education, fostering digital literacy, creativity, and ethical awareness is critical to unlocking their full potential. Digital skills training programs that incorporate AI concepts not only increase employability but also inspire entrepreneurship, enabling youth to create innovative digital solutions tailored to their communities' unique needs. For instance, young Africans skilled in AI have started developing tools in agriculture, healthcare, and education that address local challenges effectively. Furthermore, ethical grounding in technology use ensures that advancements benefit society inclusively and responsibly. Africa’s diaspora plays a key role by sharing expertise and facilitating access to resources, bridging gaps between global trends and local applications. Supporting mentorship and capacity building initiatives strengthen this ecosystem. Through my ongoing work, I emphasize that Africa’s true wealth lies in its people—specifically the energy, creativity, and resilience of its young generation. By investing intentionally in AI and digital education, Africa can harness the transformative power of technology to drive sustainable development and establish a competitive place in the global economy. This vision requires collective effort across governments, educational institutions, private sector, and communities to expand access and cultivate talents. Ultimately, empowering the youth aligns with building a future where Africa’s prosperity is rooted in innovation and human capital, not merely its natural resources. This paradigm shift offers hope for a vibrant continent leading change with skilled, ethical, and digitally fluent leaders.
