... Read moreOkay, seriously, if you're not using Split View in Goodnotes on your iPad, you are absolutely missing out! I used to be that person constantly swiping between tabs, losing my train of thought, and just feeling generally inefficient. But once I discovered how to truly use Goodnotes Split View, my digital planning and note-taking game completely changed. It’s a total game-changer for staying focused and keeping all your important information right in front of you. Let me walk you through exactly how I get two Goodnotes files open side-by-side. It’s super straightforward, and once you try it, you'll wonder how you ever managed without it. First, open one of your Goodnotes files. Then, from the bottom of your iPad screen, gently swipe up to bring up the Dock. Now, this is the crucial part: tap, hold, and drag the second Goodnotes file icon from your Dock either to the left or right side of the screen. Don't just tap it; you need to drag it to activate Split View. You'll see a dark bar appear, indicating where the second app will snap into place. Release your finger, and boom! You've got both files open, side-by-side. Why switch between files when you can view both? For me, this feature has been invaluable. I often use it when I'm working on a project and need to reference an outline or research notes while simultaneously drafting my main document. Or, if I’m planning my week, I can have my weekly planner open on one side and a collection of digital stickers or inspirational images on the other. This allows for seamless drag and drop between files - easy! The OCR even highlighted how intuitive the lasso tool makes this process. I can literally lasso an entire section of notes or a sticker from one document and drop it directly into the other. It saves so much time and keeps my creative flow going without interruption. Sometimes, people run into a little snag getting Split View to work. If you're experiencing issues, the first place to check is your iPad settings. Go to 'Settings' > 'Home Screen & Multitasking' (or 'Multitasking & Gestures' on older iOS versions) and make sure 'Allow Multiple Apps' and specifically 'Split View & Slide Over' are toggled ON. Without these enabled, your iPad simply won't let you open two apps side-by-side. Also, ensure both Goodnotes files are actually open in your recent apps or on your Dock for easy access. Another pro tip: you can easily adjust the size of each window by dragging the divider line in the middle. Need more space for one document? Just slide it over! And when you're done, simply drag the divider all the way to one side to close one of the Goodnotes files and return to a single view. Learning to effectively use Goodnotes Split View has genuinely boosted my productivity, especially for detailed tasks like creating study guides or organizing complex projects. It’s such a simple yet powerful feature that makes your iPad an even better productivity tool. Give it a try, and I bet you'll love it as much as I do!
