This shortcut just changed how I use my iPad 🤯
I created one shortcut with 3 setups — and now I can open everything I need in one tap.
No more switching between apps or wasting time setting things up.
I’m using it for:
• Finance
• Planning
• Journaling
Each option opens my planner in goodnotes + the exact apps I need — like Apple Calendar (or Google Calendar) and Calculator to get started right away.
✨ Now you can use those beautiful planners that aren’t integrated with calendar apps — just open your favorite calendar app and add events directly there.
✨ You can even open the Reminders app alongside your planner to stay on top of tasks.
✨ Want to make it aesthetic? Open Pinterest next to your planner to create vision boards while you plan.
✨ If you’re using Goodnotes, you can also open a specific planner directly.
If you’re using another app like Noteful, you can still do this — it’ll just open the app instead of a specific document.
✨ You can even open two Goodnotes documents at once (like your planner + toolkit) and just drag one tab to the side to view them side by side.
✨ This works best with iPadOS 26 (windowed apps feature) so you can have everything open side by side.
Simple setup… but such a gamechanger for getting into planning mode faster.
Which setup would you use the most — Finance, Planning, or Journaling? 👀

From personal experience, incorporating this iPad shortcut into my daily routine has been a total gamechanger. Before, I was constantly switching between apps like Goodnotes, Calendar, and Reminders, which slowed down my workflow and made staying organized a challenge. Now, with just one tap, my planner opens alongside exactly the tools I need, whether I am budgeting or planning my day. One feature I particularly love is the ability to open two Goodnotes documents simultaneously. For instance, I can view my daily planner next to my toolkit or notes, allowing me to cross-reference information easily. The drag-to-side feature lets me see both documents side by side, which is fantastic for multitasking. Another highlight is seamlessly integrating non-calendar planners with my preferred calendar app. Since many beautiful digital planners aren’t linked directly to calendar events, this shortcut allows me to open Apple Calendar or Google Calendar alongside my planner, so I add events in real-time without switching contexts. I also appreciate the flexibility of adding Pinterest to this setup — it’s perfect for creating vision boards or finding inspiration while planning ahead. The shortcut takes full advantage of iPadOS 16’s windowing capabilities, making multitasking intuitive and efficient. It has significantly reduced the friction in my daily organization tasks, especially when I juggle finance tracking, task management with Reminders, and journaling. If you’re someone who loves digital planning but hates having to open multiple apps repeatedly, setting up a shortcut like this can streamline your process and help you get into ‘planning mode’ faster. It’s simple to create and customize based on your favorite apps, whether Goodnotes, Noteful, or others. Giving this a try could be the step that transforms your digital workflow as it did mine.
