Kids Lunch Ideas
🍱This a quick simple lunch or snack idea for Moms that want to prep for an easy flow through the day.
🤦🏾♀️My daughter will throw all of this on the floor right now. She don’t appreciate lunchables just yet.
I feel like Ima fill her lunch boxes with different so much stuff cause this girl so picky, I wouldn’t want to pack her something and then she ends up not wanting that anymore. As a teacher I have seen so many kids just not eat anything at lunch cause they didn’t want what mom packed.
I kept my healthy snack choices on deck for those days because I would feel bad but not everyone will be like that.

Packing school lunches can feel like a daily battle, especially when you have a little one who's a picky eater! I've been there, staring into an empty lunchbox returned from school, wondering what went wrong. As a parent and having seen countless kids in classrooms, I quickly learned that variety, presentation, and involving kids in the process are absolutely key to winning the lunchbox war. So, how do we conquer the picky eater dilemma? First, involve them! Let them pick out some of the fruits or veggies at the grocery store. Give them two healthy choices for a snack and let them decide. This gives them a sense of control and makes them more likely to eat what's packed. For example, instead of just plain crackers, offer them with a slice of turkey and cheese to make a fun 'homemade lunchable' that feels special and personalized. Adding a few crackers, some pre-sliced cheese, and deli turkey meat makes for an easy and appealing combination. When it comes to healthy options, don't just think sandwiches. Think outside the box! Mini whole-wheat pitas with hummus and cucumber slices, pasta salads packed with colorful veggies, or even deconstructed chicken and veggie skewers can be fantastic cold lunch ideas. For high-fiber needs, whole grains, berries, and beans are fantastic additions that keep little tummies full and focused throughout the school day. Think about adding a small container of mixed berries or a few carrot sticks with a dip. For those days when kids 'just don't want to eat,' I focus on nutrient-dense, appealing cold lunch ideas. Think small portions of things they generally like and are easy to eat. Yogurt with granola and berries, hard-boiled eggs, or even a mini quiche can be great. Sometimes, just a different shape for their sandwich or a fun pick can entice them. Don't stress too much if they don't eat everything; ensure they stay hydrated with water. My go-to strategy for busy weeks is meal prepping on Sundays. I'll chop up a big batch of cheese cubes, slice some turkey, and portion out crackers into small containers. I also make sure to have fun sweet treats on hand, like a small bag of Reeses or another type of sweet treat, as a little reward, always balanced with plenty of fruit. This way, assembling a 'homemade lunchable' or a balanced meal takes minutes each morning. It saves so much stress and ensures they have something nourishing and appealing, even if they only nibble a bit. Don't forget healthy snacks for after school or for those 'I'm starving' moments. Apple slices with peanut butter, a handful of almonds, or a fruit smoothie can bridge the gap between lunch and dinner. The goal is to make healthy eating an easy and enjoyable part of their day, not a chore. With a little creativity and meal prep, you can pack lunches your kids will actually look forward to eating!
