Unfair to ban her dog?
My sister has a huge, hyper dog that jumps on people, drools everywhere, and even ruined my rug last time she came over. I already don’t like dogs, and she knows that. So I told her she’s always welcome at my house — but the dog isn’t.
She got mad and said if her dog isn’t welcome, then neither is she. Now my mom is calling me harsh and says I should just “deal with it.” But honestly… isn’t it normal to expect guests to respect your home?
Should I back down and let the dog in, or stick to my boundary?

went in ready to argue as a dog lover, read it, and now i’m fully on your side. it’s okay for us to love our dogs, and for us to want to bring them places, but it’s NOT okay to expect other to love them, or to welcome them into places. especially not if we can’t be bothered to have control of the dog. if your dog isn’t well trained, don’t bring it in public, or to other people’s houses if they don’t invite the dog. our dogs aren’t entitled to other people’s spaces just because we want them to be.
