Do I owe her for the chair?
During game night, I sat in an old wooden chair and it immediately collapsed. I wasn’t hurt, just embarrassed. My friend was nice at first, even saying it had fallen apart before and her boyfriend had fixed it.
The next day, she texted saying it was “beyond repair” this time and that I should reimburse them for a new one — around $250. I told her the chair was already fragile and shouldn’t have been out for guests if it was that valuable. She pushed back, saying it broke because of my weight and that it wouldn’t have happened with anyone else.
I feel like I’m being shamed for something that wasn’t entirely my fault. Some friends say I should just pay and move on, others say I shouldn’t give in.
What would you do — pay up or stand firm?

Chair was already broke then if boyfriend had to fix it once. You owe her nothing.
