finished the plated prisoners series
I'm unwell. this is officially one of my all time favorites
Okay, so I just finished the Plated Prisoners series, and honestly, I'm still reeling! You know that feeling when a book series completely consumes your life? That's me right now. I literally devoured all six Plated Prisoners books in less than a week – sleep was optional! And a huge part of why I'm so utterly obsessed comes down to the incredible characters, especially those introduced right from the start in *Gild*. Let’s talk about Auren. From the very first pages of *Gild*, her situation is so unique and heartbreaking. Her gilded touch, her loyalty to King Midas, and her internal struggle felt so real and palpable. I found myself constantly rooting for her, wanting her to find her own strength and voice. It’s rare to find a protagonist who undergoes such a profound transformation, and witnessing her journey was truly captivating. My heart ached for her, celebrated her small victories, and felt every ounce of her confusion and burgeoning defiance. This isn't just a story; it's an emotional rollercoaster driven by her complex character. And then there’s King Midas. Oh, Midas! He’s definitely one of those characters you love to hate, or maybe just purely hate, but he's undeniably integral to Auren's early story. His charm, his possessiveness, and the golden cage he builds around Auren create such intense conflict. As a reader, I was constantly analyzing his motives and his relationship with Auren, trying to peel back the layers of his golden facade. The dynamic between them in Gild sets the stage for so much of the series' tension and drama. But we can't talk about Gild characters without mentioning Commander Rip. The moment he steps onto the scene, the entire dynamic shifts. His presence introduces a whole new level of intrigue and danger, but also a glimmer of hope and possibility for Auren. The slow burn, the unspoken glances, the underlying power struggles – it all makes for such compelling reading. I was literally on the edge of my seat with every interaction, trying to decipher his true intentions and how he would impact Auren's future. The way these characters are written makes you want to get secondary copies just to annotate all the subtle nuances in their dialogue and actions! The author did such an incredible job crafting these individuals, giving them depth, flaws, and relatable desires. They aren’t just plot devices; they feel like real people with real stakes. Their struggles, their growth, and their intertwined destinies are what kept me glued to the pages. Seriously, this series has earned its spot as one of my new favorites of all time, and it’s largely thanks to the unforgettable cast of characters from Gild onwards. If you're looking for characters who will live rent-free in your head long after you've turned the last page, dive into Plated Prisoners. You won't regret it!
