TAKES ON VOGUE’S BOYFRIEND ARTICLE: 😬😭😂

Is it embarrassing to have a boyfriend?!!! This is just gonna be a funny and honest reaction post from it. Not meant to come across as negative but in a funny & honest response for it. I’m also working on expanding this funny cons list. Please do share some more on embarrassing examples. 😂😭😂🫢😬 Eeek. lol. My boyfriend this. My boyfriend that. Can’t eat, sleep, breath, and live without them. Look…it’s a valid feeling but…there’s more to life than being with someone all of the time. This post also is to shift the whole programming and free ya’ll from this. We gotta free you all up…Free my sisters and those involved in these cases. Free them. Free everybody from the chains of such bonds that hold you back. OKAY..?!! OKAY. And this don’t have to be gender role based..Take what shall apply. Had to clear this one out of my head too..I felt this one on a deeper scale. #VOGUE #boyfriend #embarrassing #funny #LOL

... Read moreOkay, let's get real for a moment. That viral Vogue article asking, "Is Having a Boyfriend Embarrassing Now?" really struck a chord with so many of us, myself included. It’s a question that, on the surface, sounds a bit wild, but if we’re being honest, there’s a flicker of understanding there, isn't there? It’s not about being ashamed of love, but more about navigating modern relationships in a world that’s constantly scrutinizing and sharing. So, what is meant by embarrassment in this context? It's not necessarily about being embarrassed of your partner, but perhaps more about the cringey couple behaviors we sometimes witness, or even fall into ourselves! Think about it: the article sparked a conversation because it taps into a genuine feeling some people have – a desire for individuality, even when deeply committed. I've definitely seen some eyebrow-raising moments that make you wonder if people forget they're in public! Let’s unpack some of those common 'embarrassing' scenarios. First up, the 'unpaid bodyguard' phenomenon. You know what I'm talking about: your boyfriend hovering awkwardly while you're trying to shop with your friends, or standing silently by your side at a social gathering instead of mingling. It’s not that we don’t appreciate their presence, but sometimes it just feels… clunky. It can make you feel like you need to entertain two people instead of just enjoying your own time. Or worse, it can feel like you’re being watched rather than just existing freely. Then there are the 'scandalous couple photo poses' and the perpetual 'oversharing on social media.' I’ve been guilty of it, and I've scrolled past it. From overly dramatic embraces on a public beach to daily updates on every single meal you share, it’s easy to cross the line from cute to 'can we keep some things private?' There’s a fine balance between celebrating your relationship and making it your entire online personality. It’s that constant pressure to prove your love to the internet, rather than simply living it, that can feel genuinely awkward and, dare I say, a little embarrassing. It often makes me wonder if we’re performing for an audience instead of genuinely connecting. And let’s not forget the 'holding hands everywhere' discussion, especially in places like an aisle at the grocery store or a fast-food line. While sweet for a moment, an incessant, performative display of affection can sometimes feel more about showcasing the relationship than expressing genuine intimacy. It makes you think: Is this for me, for us, or for everyone else watching? This isn't to say PDA is always bad, but there's a time and place, and sometimes it just feels a bit much, especially when it impedes others or becomes the sole focus. Ultimately, I think the article, and our reactions to it, are a call to redefine what a healthy, non-embarrassing relationship looks like for us. It’s about balance: balancing independence with togetherness, private moments with public displays, and individual identity with shared experiences. It's about freeing ourselves from the expectation that our entire world must revolve around our partner. My biggest takeaway? Let’s celebrate our love, yes, but let's also celebrate our individual selves, our friendships, and our passions. Because true confidence and happiness, whether single or coupled up, is never embarrassing.
