1..Wash your day away! Shower every night before bed. And be sure to slather your skin in your favorite lotion or body butter. I love the Fenty Butta drop and the Osea body butter.
2.Invest in your skincare and stick to the basics.
(Cleanser, toner, serum, moisturizer, eye cream)
3.Don’t skip sunscreen!!!! I’m currently using Black girl sunscreen.
4.Keep your makeup routine a simple as possible. I’ll be honest, my routine is far from simple but hey! I’m a work in progress. 😂 If you’re like me and don’t wear makeup daily, this saves you more time. I normally wear makeup 2-3 times a week. I also work from home so that is why. I’ll do a separate post on my makeup must haves and favorites.
5.Try low maintenance hairstyles. Ponytails, braids, wigs , overnight curls. Anything that is quick that’ll get you and those babies out the door on time. If you can, get ready while the kids eat breakfast. If not, wake up 10 - 15 minutes before you wake them.
6.Stay healthy. Try and eat as healthy as possible. But don’t feel bad if you treat yourself every once in a while. Life is short, have a donut. Don’t overindulge!
7.Sleep! I know it can be hard but please try to get at least 7 hours of sleep every
night. Try to shoot for 8! Allow your body to recharge from your day.
... Read moreOkay mamas, let's talk about something we often push to the bottom of our never-ending to-do list: *moisturizing*! I know, I know, between diaper changes, meal prep, and chasing little ones, finding time for ourselves feels utterly impossible. But trust me, taking just a few extra minutes to properly hydrate your skin can make a world of difference, not just in how you look, but how you *feel*.
You might think moisturizing is just about stopping dryness, but it's so much more. Our skin is our body's largest organ, and it acts as a vital protective barrier. When it's well-hydrated, this barrier functions optimally, keeping irritants out and precious moisture in. This means healthier, plumper skin that's less prone to fine lines, more resilient against environmental stressors, and absolutely glowing. Plus, who doesn't love that healthy, vibrant glow that makes you feel confident and refreshed?
My number one rule for effective moisturizing? Apply it to damp skin! After your shower or bath, gently pat your skin dry, but leave a little moisture. This helps to 'lock in' that hydration, creating an occlusive barrier that seals in the water. For the body, I’m a huge fan of rich body butters like the Fenty Butta Drop or Osea body butter. They're thick and luxurious, perfect for really soaking into the skin, especially on areas prone to dryness like elbows and knees. If you have particularly dry skin, a heavier balm or even a body oil applied over lotion can be your best friend. For those with oilier skin or during warmer months, a lighter lotion or gel-cream can provide ample hydration without feeling heavy or sticky. Don't forget your face! A good facial moisturizer, applied after your cleanser, toner, and serums, is non-negotiable. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid (a humectant that draws moisture in), glycerin, ceramides (which rebuild your skin's barrier), or fatty acids for a serious hydration boost.
I try to make moisturizing a mindful moment, not just another chore. After showering, I take a few deep breaths while I massage my favorite lotion into my arms and legs. It's my little ritual, a quick moment of self-care. And speaking of rituals, if you have naturally wavy hair like mine, don't forget to hydrate those strands too! A good leave-in conditioner or hair oil can keep your curls bouncy and defined, which definitely contributes to that overall put-together feeling, even on a crazy busy day when you're just throwing it into a quick ponytail.
For busy mornings, I keep a lighter, fast-absorbing lotion right by my bathroom sink. It’s perfect for a quick refresh before tackling the day. At night, I'll indulge in a richer cream, allowing it to work its magic while I (hopefully!) get some sleep. The key is consistency, even if it's just a few minutes. Think of it as giving back to yourself. When you feel good in your skin – literally – it boosts your confidence and energy. You don't need a complicated routine to feel like that 'hot mom' who has it all together; sometimes, it's just about a little bit of consistent self-care. Your skin will thank you, and you'll feel more radiant, ready to take on whatever motherhood throws your way.
Great advice❤️
