Eilean Donan Castle 🏴
I was very excited to stop here on our Discover Scotland Tour. She is such an iconic castle with an intriguing story. She sits proud on an island where three Loch’s meet in the breathtaking Isle of Skye. Her story involves Vikings and a Jacobite uprising which left her to ruin for about 200 years. It was rebuilt from 1912 to 1932 by Lt Col John MacRea-Gilstrap as a family home. They could not find the blueprints so they went with a design they thought was accurate to the original. After the castle was finished they found the blueprints and it looks totally different. 🤭
There is lots to see inside of the castle and she is beautifully taken care of.
