Easy Haitian Epis Recipe for Beginners 🇭🇹🌿

If you want your food to have that delicious Haitian flavor, homemade epis is the perfect place to start. This green seasoning is fresh, flavorful, and easy enough for beginners.

Ingredients

1 leek, thoroughly washed and chopped

1 sweet pepper, seeded and chopped

1 small onion, chopped

6 garlic cloves

2 celery sticks, chopped

½ cup fresh parsley

¼ cup fresh basil

1 tablespoon fresh rosemary

1 tablespoon fresh thyme

1 teaspoon sea salt

2 tablespoons vinegar

â…“ cup olive oil

Directions

Wash all your vegetables and herbs carefully. Make sure you separate the layers of the leek because dirt can hide inside.

Add everything to a blender or food processor. Blend until finely chopped and slightly creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides if necessary.

If the mixture is too thick, add a little more olive oil or vinegar. Taste it and adjust the sea salt to your liking.

Transfer your epis to a clean airtight container and keep it refrigerated. You can also freeze it in an ice cube tray for convenient individual portions.

I use about 1 to 2 tablespoons for every pound of chicken, beef, pork, fish, shrimp, or vegetables. You can also add it to rice, beans, soups, and stews.

Once you start making homemade epis, plain seasoning will never feel the same again 🇭🇹💚
