engaged at 25 ๐๐โจ
๐ฆ๐ฆ finally engaged after 8 years !!!
we were 13 (sec 1) when we first met, but of course no sparks flew because uRM girl was too busy trying to be studious ๐๏ธ๐๐๏ธ and mum says no dating !!!! ๐ ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐ ๐ปโโ๏ธ๐ ๐ปโโ๏ธ
we became friends when we were sec 2, but were not romantically together โ oops he got rejected twice๐ฉ
sec 3-4 was sort of a grey area โ we went out (just the two of us) but we didnโt really make it a point to put a label on our relationship โฆ ig you could call it dating๐ค?
we went out officially when we were 17! we applied to the same polytechnic! and you know which schools breed the best couples !!! or maybe just typical couples โฆ
i applied to business school & he applied to engineering school ๐คก
poly was a breeze, then came NS โ ๏ธ (we fought so much) and hE GOT SHIPPED TO AUSTRALIA FOR 1.5 MONTHS i almost died then ๐๐๐ (in my defence i was only 20 โฆ)
anyway TLDR, we beat the 7 year curse ๐ค๐ป๐
and we are engaged ๐๐ ๐ปโจ !!!!
i canโt wait to be a wifey ๐ฅน๐ฅฐ
The so-called 7-year curse has always been a scary topic for many couples, and Iโve definitely felt the pressure over the years. What helped us was staying open with each other and adjusting to lifeโs changes togetherโwhether it was moving from school to polytechnic, or dealing with long-distance when he was shipped to Australia during NS. One thing I learned is how important communication is, especially when youโre young and figuring things out. We had our fair share of disagreements, but we always tried to understand each otherโs perspective. I also realized that love isnโt about perfection but about accepting the ups and downs. Another fun aspect from our story is how we both attended polytechnicโa place often joked to be a breeding ground for "monster couples" who survive whatever challenges come their way. It felt reassuring to share similar experiences during school years, which built a deeper friendship that grew into love. If youโre wondering how to beat the 7-year curse, my advice is to focus on growing both individually and as a couple. Celebrate your milestones no matter how small and be patient through tough times. Every relationship is unique, but resilience and genuine care are always key. Iโm super excited for whatโs next and canโt wait to be a wifey. If youโre in a long-term relationship, donโt lose hopeโitโs worth fighting for the love that grows through the years!
