Season of Love

✨F•E•B•R•U•A•R•Y✨

I forgot to share the February focus. But even though it’s only 10 days left in the month and valentines day is over, the season of love is still upon. And there’s still some healthy habits for you to learn and apply.

Valentine’s day is just a reminder about how beautiful love is and the importance of connection. But that reminder can happen any day. Whether you are connecting with yourself, your community, or your culture it requires attention, intention and authenticity.

It’s not just about big gestures and luxury experiences. It’s about showing up; feeling seen and seeing others; being accepting and listening to mind, body, and spirit.

It’s unlearning that love is supposed to hurt; that you can’t trust anyone, and that you’re not worthy or deserving of love.

It’s realizing that love is patient, kind and forgiving. And believing you are worthy of it just because you exist.

Whether you’re deepening an existing bond, opening your heart to something new, or learning to love yourself in ways you never have before, this is a time to reflect on what love truly means for you. And remember, the relationship you build with yourself, and God, sets the foundation for every other connection in your life.

Honor yourself by cultivating and choosing a love that brings peace and not pressure, compassion and not chaos, trust and not tension, desire and not doubt. You deserve it.

... Read moreReflecting on what 'relationship love' truly means has been such a journey for me, especially beyond the usual Valentine's Day hype. I used to think it was all about grand gestures and finding 'the one,' but this past month has really solidified my understanding that deep, fulfilling relationship love begins with *you*. It's not just a cliché; it's a profound truth that impacts every connection in your life, whether with family, friends, or a partner. One of the biggest shifts for me came from truly understanding the importance of 'Forgive yourself' and 'Affirm yourself.' I saw a graphic recently that highlighted these, and it really resonated. How can we truly love others if we're constantly holding grudges against ourselves or doubting our own worth? Forgiving myself for past mistakes, for not being 'perfect,' and for moments of self-doubt has been incredibly liberating. It's like shedding a heavy burden. And then, actively choosing to 'Affirm yourself' daily—speaking kindness to myself, recognizing my strengths, and reminding myself that I am worthy just as I am—has built such a strong foundation. This self-compassion, I've found, creates a wellspring of love that can then authentically flow outwards. This personal foundation of self-love then empowers you to approach other relationships with more 'attention, intention, and authenticity,' as I've learned. What does that actually look like? For me, 'attention' means being truly present when I'm with someone, not just physically, but mentally and emotionally. Putting my phone away, actively listening without planning my next response, and really seeing the person in front of me. 'Intention' is about consciously choosing to nurture those connections. It's setting aside time, making plans, and showing up for people, even when it’s inconvenient. It's also having the intention to communicate clearly and kindly, even when things are tough. And 'authenticity'? That’s about showing up as my true self, vulnerabilities and all, and allowing others to do the same without judgment. It’s letting go of the need to be perfect or to always have it together. I also had to unlearn some really toxic ideas about love – the ones that say love is supposed to hurt, or that you can’t trust anyone. It was a tough realization, but I slowly started to understand that love, true love, brings peace, not pressure; compassion, not chaos; trust, not tension. If a relationship consistently brings you down or makes you question your worth, it might not be the healthy, empowering love you deserve. This clarity has helped me set better boundaries and seek out connections that uplift and support me. So, whether you're trying to deepen an existing bond or just open your heart to something new, remember that it all starts with cultivating that patient, kind, and forgiving love within yourself. Honouring yourself by choosing relationships that bring peace and not pressure isn't selfish; it's essential for a truly fulfilling life. It’s an ongoing process, but one that’s incredibly rewarding as you build healthy, lasting connections grounded in genuine self-worth.
