Part 2 of turning our Rv into the perfect tiny hom
After tackling the bigger structural changes in our RV transformation, the inside decorating ideas were truly where our stationary tiny home started to feel like ours. I remember staring at the blank walls, wondering how to make such a compact space both functional and beautiful. My biggest tip? Start with a clear vision! We decided on a cozy, minimalist aesthetic to avoid clutter, which is crucial in an RV tiny home. One of the first things we focused on was maximizing vertical space. Instead of just shelves, we installed lightweight, floating shelves that don't weigh down the walls. We also opted for multi-functional furniture wherever possible – our dining table folds down, and our sofa doubles as extra storage. It’s amazing how much you can fit when everything has a purpose! Color schemes play a huge role in making a small space feel larger. We chose light, neutral colors for the walls and ceiling to create an airy feel, then added pops of color through textiles like throw pillows, blankets, and curtains. Don't underestimate the power of fabric to add warmth and personality! For flooring, we went with a durable, light-colored vinyl plank that's easy to clean and holds up well to wear and tear, perfect for a stationary tiny home setup. Lighting was another game-changer. Beyond the built-in RV lights, we added fairy lights for ambiance, under-cabinet LED strips for task lighting, and a few battery-operated sconces. This layering of light creates depth and makes the space feel more inviting, especially in the evenings. Personal touches are essential. Even in a small space, you can display artwork or photos. I used command strips for lightweight frames to keep them secure while the RV was still considered somewhat mobile, even though our intention was to be stationary. Succulents and small indoor plants add life and freshness without taking up too much room. We also invested in good quality, comfortable bedding and towels; these small luxuries make a big difference in daily living. Don't forget about storage solutions that blend in. We found slim, stackable bins that fit perfectly under the bed and inside cabinets. Magnetic strips for knives in the kitchen and spice racks on the inside of cabinet doors freed up precious counter space. Every inch counts when you're living in an RV that's now your tiny home. Thinking back, the key was to treat it like any other home design project, just on a smaller scale. We spent hours browsing RV decorating ideas inside on Pinterest and other blogs, adapting what we liked to fit our specific needs and budget. It’s been an incredible journey turning our RV into the perfect stationary tiny home, and every decorative detail has contributed to making it truly feel like our own sanctuary.
