personal development for mama

I always am striving to be a bit better each day, and after a hard bout with postpartum mental illness, I have been doing a lot of inner healing. Sometimes, I still struggle to understand and have the responses and reactions I’d like to have towards my kiddos - not just from the hormonal imbalances I’m still facing, but unlearning a lot of how I was taught to be a mom through the experiences I had growing up.

I want my kids to be bold and confident and kind, and I want to foster an environment where they feel safe enough to tell me anything. What I’ve been doing hasn’t made me feel proud, so I’m working to change it. I’ll let you know how they are!

It's essential for mothers to focus on personal development, which not only promotes their well-being but also positively impacts their children. One key aspect is to engage in self-reflection to identify underlying patterns from childhood that may influence your parenting style. This awareness can lead to more intentional parenting practices. Books like 'Raising Good Humans' offer valuable insights and strategies for breaking the cycle of reactive parenting. They advocate for being present and proactive in your responses, encouraging mothers to pause before reacting to their children's needs. Implementing gentle parenting techniques can significantly improve family dynamics, fostering an environment where children feel heard and valued. Sharing experiences and connecting with fellow mothers who are on a similar journey through platforms like Lemon8 can provide additional support. Engaging in discussions around conscious parenting, postpartum recovery, and emotional wellness creates a sense of community. It reminds mothers that they are not alone in their struggles. Ultimately, prioritizing your personal development equips you with the tools necessary to raise confident and kind children.
