Tonto Natural Bridge hike
Today we went to Tonto Natural Bridge just North of Payson,Arizona. We had a lot of fun and discovered there was a trail that went through the bridge! It was more challenging than we originally intended but oh man! The memories and the photos that came with it made it all worth it in the end! Our 6 year old took it like a champ! I would highly recommend if you are able bodied to take on some big rocks and slick surfaces. #hiking #tontonaturalbridge #tontonationalforest #arizona
If you're planning to hike at Tonto Natural Bridge, it's important to prepare for a moderately challenging terrain that can be both rewarding and fun. The trail offers stunning views as it passes through the natural bridge itself, which is a rare geological formation made of travertine rock. Wear sturdy hiking shoes with good grip to safely navigate the slick surfaces and large rocks found along the path. While the hike may seem daunting, even children as young as six have managed it with some encouragement, making it a fantastic family adventure. Be sure to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and snacks to keep your energy up as the trail can be physically demanding. The surrounding Tonto National Forest also provides picnic and rest areas where you can relax and enjoy the natural beauty. Many hikers recommend arm or trekking poles for added stability. The area is rich in flora and fauna, so keep an eye out for unique plants and local wildlife, which add to the experience. Don't forget your camera—photos from the trail, especially under the massive bridge, are spectacular and make for lasting memories.
