I almost said yes…

And I’m so glad I didn’t.

For years, I thought saying “yes” made me a better employee.

A better friend.

A better leader.

A better person.

So I said yes to the extra shift.

Yes to the extra meeting.

Yes to one more favor.

Yes to one more commitment.

But slowly, I realized something.

Every time I said “yes” to something that wasn’t essential…

I was saying “no” to something that mattered more.

❌ No to dinner with my family.

❌ No to resting.

❌ No to reading my Bible.

❌ No to taking care of my health.

❌ No to simply being present.

Then one day, I did something that felt completely uncomfortable.

I politely said,

“I’m sorry… I can’t this time.”

I expected guilt.

I expected disappointment.

Instead…

I found peace.

That evening, I ate dinner with my family.

I laughed with my children.

I went to bed feeling rested instead of completely drained.

And I learned one of the most important lessons of my life:

Every “no” creates space for a better “yes.”

When you say no to things that don’t align with your priorities…

You’re saying yes to your health.

❤️ Yes to your marriage.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Yes to your children.

🙏 Yes to your faith.

🕊️ Yes to your peace.

Remember this:

Boundaries aren’t about pushing people away.

They’re about protecting the people and priorities you love most.
