✨Yoga Instructor fit✨
My #ootd while teaching yoga!
It's always fun to share my favorite yoga teaching outfits! While that mirror selfie in my light brown top and dark blue leggings shows one of my go-tos, there's so much more to consider when you're leading a class, especially for something like 'Yoga 101 Every Saturday!'. As an instructor, what I wear isn't just about looking good; it's about comfort, functionality, and setting the right vibe for my students. First off, comfort is king. I spend hours demonstrating poses, adjusting students, and moving around the studio. My clothes need to move with me, not restrict me. That means breathable fabrics are a must – think moisture-wicking materials for those warmer flows, or soft organic cotton for restorative classes. I always check for stretch and recovery in leggings and tops to ensure they don't sag or become transparent during inversions. Then there's the functionality aspect. For tops, I usually opt for something supportive but not overly constricting. A good sports bra is non-negotiable, and I prefer tops that stay put, whether I'm in a downward dog or a handstand. Layering is also key, especially for early morning or evening classes when the temperature can fluctuate. A lightweight cardigan or a cozy wrap can make a huge difference before and after class. For bottoms, dark blue leggings are a staple, as you saw in my picture! They offer great coverage and allow for full range of motion. I look for high-waisted options that provide support and prevent any distractions during practice. Sometimes, I'll switch it up with yoga shorts, especially for really hot power yoga classes, but I always make sure they have a secure fit. Beyond the basics, I also think about the 'instructor fit' from a professional standpoint. I want to look approachable and confident, but also focused on the practice itself. Subtle patterns or solid colors often work best, as they don't distract from the instruction. And let's not forget how important it is to feel good in what you're wearing – when I feel comfortable and put-together, it definitely translates into a more confident and engaging teaching experience. Finding the perfect balance between style and practicality is a journey. My advice? Experiment with different brands and styles to see what truly supports your teaching flow. What works for a gentle hatha class might be different from what you'd wear to teach an intense Vinyasa session. And always remember, the best outfit is one that lets you focus entirely on your students and your love for yoga!
