RENTER FRIENDLY UPGRADES 🏠

Living in an apartment is not exactly ideal if you love to decorate - like I do!

Being able to customize my space is super important to me, especially in New York City where a lot of the buildings are outdated and aren’t exactly my style!

I found some amazing products that helped me then my space into a place that feels more “me!” Here is everything I found:

Peel and stick vinyl flooring: this is AMAZING! For only $90 I was able to totally transform my entire kitchen and I have so many tiles left over.

Peel and stick backsplash: this totally transformed my space to feel more light and open! It was super easy to apply and has lasted over 2 years so far!

Marble countertop: this was also a peel and stick application and super easy to do! It’s super simple to cut off what you need and stick it down! It also was SUPER cheap!

Beyond the fantastic kitchen transformations, there are so many other renter-friendly upgrades you can explore to personalize your entire space without losing your security deposit! Let's talk about walls first. If you're bored of plain paint, removable wallpaper is a game-changer. It comes in countless patterns and textures, from subtle designs to bold statements, allowing you to create an accent wall or refresh an entire room. It’s applied like a giant sticker and peels off cleanly when you move, making it a perfect DIY solution for adding personality. For hanging art or photos, Command strips and hooks are your best friends. They eliminate the need for nails and drills, keeping your walls pristine while displaying your favorite pieces. You can even use them for temporary shelving to add extra storage or decorative flair. Lighting can dramatically alter a room's ambiance. Many rental apartments come with basic, unflattering fixtures. Instead of costly electrical work, consider plug-in sconces or stylish floor lamps that provide warm, inviting light. Smart bulbs are another excellent investment, allowing you to change color and brightness with an app, instantly updating your lighting without any permanent changes. These small touches can make a huge difference in how your space feels. The bathroom, often overlooked, can also benefit from renter-friendly upgrades. Just like the kitchen's peel-and-stick backsplash, you can find peel-and-stick tiles for the bathroom floor to cover outdated linoleum or create a fresh look. There are even options for shower walls that can withstand moisture. Upgrading your showerhead to a more modern, water-saving model is usually a simple screw-on replacement. Adding floating shelves with Command strips or using decorative storage baskets can declutter and elevate the space, making it feel more like a spa retreat. Don't forget about textiles and plants! A vibrant rug can define a living area and add warmth, while new curtains can soften windows and enhance privacy. Plants not only add a touch of nature but also improve air quality, making your apartment feel fresher and more alive. Remember, the goal is to make your rental a reflection of you, using "RENTER FRIENDLY UPGRADES" that are easy to apply, affordable, and simple to remove. Whether it's adding DIY VINYL FLOORING to another room or dreaming up "DIY MARBLE COUNTERTOPS" for your bathroom vanity, every small change contributes to a space you truly love coming home to.
