Duas for Ramadan

2025/2/20 Edited to

... Read moreBuilding on those beautiful three duas shared earlier, which I absolutely cherish for every night of Ramadan, I wanted to share a few more tips and prayers that have truly enriched my own journey during this blessed month. You know, sometimes we focus so much on the big picture that we forget the small, consistent acts can have a huge impact! First off, let's talk about Suhoor Dua. I used to just eat and get back to sleep, but then I learned about the blessings of making a specific intention. A simple yet powerful dua to recite at Suhoor is: "Wa bi sawmi ghadin nawaytu min shahri Ramadan." *Meaning: "I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan."* It's a beautiful way to start your fast with conscious intention and seek Allah's blessings for the day ahead. I try to say it right after I’ve had my meal, feeling that connection to the divine. Beyond specific prayers, I've found immense peace in incorporating general dhikr and seeking forgiveness (Istighfar) throughout my day in Ramadan. While those Rabbana A'atik riqabana minan naar and Allahumma balighna Laylatul Qadr are foundational, simply repeating 'Subhanallah', 'Alhamdulillah', 'Allahu Akbar', or 'La ilaha illallah' can keep your heart engaged. And you can never go wrong with Istighfar! Just saying 'Astaghfirullah' sincerely helps me feel lighter and more connected. It’s like a constant spiritual cleanse. Speaking of Laylatul Qadr, while the Allahumma balighna Laylatul Qadr from the main post is fantastic, another iconic dua for this night, often recited, is: "Allahumma innaka Afuwwun, tuhibbul 'afwa, fa'fu 'anni." *Meaning: "O Allah, You are the Most Forgiving, You love forgiveness, so forgive me."* This one is so profound and reminds us of Allah's infinite mercy. I try to increase its recitation especially in the last ten nights, hoping to catch Laylatul Qadr. It’s a personal favorite for its heartfelt plea. Finally, I've learned that how we make dua can be just as important. I always try to raise my hands, start with praises for Allah (SWT) and blessings upon Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and then make my request with full conviction. The best times for dua are also something I try to utilize: right before breaking fast, during Suhoor, and especially in the last third of the night when Allah descends to the lowest heaven. It feels like such a personal conversation with my Creator. And remember, sharing these duas with others, like I’m doing now, can be a form of Sadqah Jariyah – a continuous charity that benefits us even after we're gone. May Allah accept all our efforts and duas this Ramadan!
