Assalamualaikum everyone! I wanted to share a little about what it truly means to be a ‘revert’ to Islam, and my own journey with faith. Often, people use the term ‘convert,’ but for many of us, ‘revert’ feels more accurate. It’s about returning to a natural state of submission to Allah, to the innate spiritual inclination we all have (fitra). My personal path, much like the inspiring words I’ve come across from others, involved a lot of soul-searching. I distinctly remember making heartfelt Duas, asking Allah to guide me on the right path. It wasn't always clear, but there was a deep yearning for something more, a sense that I was missing a crucial piece of the puzzle. As time went on, I experienced many things that subtly, yet powerfully, drove me closer to Allah. You know that feeling when you look back and see how everything aligned? Alhamdullilah, that's exactly how it felt. Like the Quran says, "And He found you lost and guided you" (Quran 93:7). When the moment came to accept Islam and say my Shahada, it was incredibly profound. It wasn't just a declaration; it was a transformation. That foundational principle – that there is no god but Allah and Muhammad is His messenger – brought such clarity and peace to my heart. It felt like coming home. I was incredibly blessed to have some good friends who helped me along the way, answering my questions and providing support. Their kindness and patience were invaluable. For anyone interested in what ‘revert to Islam’ truly means, it's a deeply personal spiritual awakening. It's about consciously choosing a path of peace, submission, and devotion. It means learning, growing, and striving to live by Islamic principles. And it’s not always easy; there are challenges, but the beauty and blessings far outweigh them. Many reverts find new communities and connections. In our digital age, sharing these stories has become so much easier. You see many revert Muslims, including content creators and even some who become food bloggers or influencers on platforms like Instagram, sharing their daily lives, tips, and experiences. They might share about halal food finds, prayer routines, or just the joys and struggles of being a Muslim in the West. This kind of online community is amazing because it offers practical advice and emotional support, reminding us that we're not alone on this journey. Whether it's finding out about local mosques, understanding Islamic etiquette, or just seeing how others navigate their faith, these online spaces are a treasure. It reinforces that our revert stories, no matter how unique, are part of a larger, beautiful tapestry of faith. My journey continues, and I'm grateful for every step, every Dua, and every moment of guidance from Allah.
