She opened the door to something unimaginable.

On April 11, 1981, the quiet resort community of Keddie, California became the site of one of America's most haunting unsolved murder cases. Sue Sharp, her son John, and family friend Dana Wingate were found murdered inside Cabin 28. Three younger children sleeping in another room were left unharmed, while 12-year-old Tina Sharp disappeared without a trace. Three years later, her remains were discovered miles away in a remote area.

Despite decades of investigation, multiple persons of interest, alleged confessions, and advances in forensic technology, no one has ever been convicted. The case continues to fascinate true crime investigators because many believe the identity of the killer may have been known early on, but critical evidence and investigative errors prevented justice.

This video is intended to document a real historical case and encourage respectful discussion. Out of respect for the victims and their families, graphic details have been minimized.

... Read moreVisiting the story of the Keddie Murders has always left me with a deep fascination and a profound sense of unease. When I first dug into this case, what struck me most was the bizarre nature of the crime scene—three victims violently murdered, while three children in the same cabin miraculously escaped unharmed. This stark contrast raises questions about the perpetrator’s motives and the chaotic nature of the attack. One of the most haunting aspects is the disappearance of Tina Sharp, Sue Sharp's 12-year-old daughter, who vanished without a trace and was found three years later far from the original crime scene. This detail adds a layer of mystery that stands apart from many other unsolved cases I have studied. What made this case especially challenging is the reported investigative mishandling. Lost evidence and alleged confessions, combined with eyewitness accounts, create a puzzle that seems frustratingly incomplete. From my personal experience delving into true crime forums and discussions, I’ve noticed how this case exemplifies the broader challenges of cold case investigations: the tension between initial hunches and the reality of limited forensic technology at the time. The haunting legend of Cabin 28 itself—now gone—reminds me how physical places tied to crimes can become symbolic spaces in public memory. The idea that the killer might have lived among the same resort community adds to the chilling reality that sometimes danger lurks close to home. Through researching this case, I realized the importance of continued attention and thoughtful dialogue about unsolved crimes. Sharing theories responsibly, respecting victims, and pushing for advancements in forensic science can increase the chances of eventual justice. For those interested in true crime, the Keddie Murders is a case that underscores why every detail matters, and why some mysteries remain haunting decades later.
