Snowing in HTX❤️

Omg, I still can't believe it actually snowed in Houston! When we woke up and saw the fresh snow covering everything, it felt like a dream. For those of us who live here, a snow day is such a rare and magical event, especially for our little ones. My heart just melted watching my baby experience their very first snow. Seeing their wide-eyed wonder as they touched the cold white ground for the first time was truly unforgettable. We bundled them up in their warmest coat and a cute pink and white hat, and just let them explore our snow-covered backyard. They kept trying to pick up the flakes, and the joy on their face was priceless! If you ever get lucky enough to experience a Houston snow day, especially with kids, here are a few things I learned and would recommend to make the most of it: 1. Bundle Up, Even If It's Not Arctic Cold: Even a light dusting of snow makes the air feel much colder than usual for Houston. Layers are key! Think waterproof outer layers if possible, warm hats, gloves/mittens (they'll definitely want to touch the snow!), and warm socks. 2. Embrace the Moment, It Won't Last Long: Houston snow is usually fleeting. Get outside quickly to enjoy it before it melts! We spent hours just playing in our snow-covered driveway and backyard, taking tons of photos to remember the day. 3. Create Simple Snow Play: You don't need elaborate sleds or snowmen in Houston. A small snowball fight, making 'snow angels' (even if they're just outlines on the ground), or letting little ones explore the texture of the fresh snow is enough. My baby loved patting the snow, leaving tiny impressions. 4. Capture the Memories: Trust me, you'll want photos and videos! It's such a unique event for our city. The sight of snow-dusted trees and brick houses is just something you don't see every year. 5. Warm Up Afterwards: Have hot chocolate or a warm snack ready for when you come inside. It’s the perfect end to a rare snowy adventure. 6. Be Mindful of Safety: While a light snow is fun, remember that roads can still be slick, and even a small amount of ice can be dangerous. If you do go out, drive carefully. Our black SUV looked so cool covered in snow, but we made sure to clear it off well before driving anywhere. It was such a special experience, and I'm so grateful my family got to make these memories. Who knew a little bit of snow could bring so much magic to our usually warm city?
