Every story has a beginning, but the road to this one was carved through hours of research, countless revisions, and a deep dive into themes of military conflict, religious extremism, and ancient secrets that shape the world in ways we’re only beginning to understand.
When I first began writing Siege of the Forgotten Order, I wanted to create something that not only challenged the reader’s sense of survival but also explored the powerful forces—human and supernatural—that drive the world to its breaking point. At the heart of this story lies a special forces team, the Shadow Hawks, whose mission is far more than combat. It's a race against time to uncover an ancient relic, one that could turn the tide in a war-torn world—or plunge it further into chaos.
I drew heavily from real-world military operations, combining gritty realism with elements of the supernatural. But what really propelled the story forward was the question: What if the greatest enemy isn't a human force, but something older, more primal? Something that has waited for centuries, hidden behind the veil of myth.
The world-building was one of the most rewarding parts of the process. Crafting a world where the remnants of ancient empires stand side-by-side with the fractured remnants of modern civilization is a balance of imagination and logic. What would the world look like after a catastrophic event like the Great Sundering? How would nations, religions, and cultures adapt, and how far would they go to control the remnants of the past?
Through long nights, drafts filled with red ink, and a lot of caffeine, the world of Siege came to life. And while the action and suspense are front and center, it’s the psychological toll on our characters that I hope will stay with readers long after the book is finished.
