POV-you make too many playlists๐ค
I have like 30 playlists and most of them over 20+ hrs long. Only a couple are on my apple music profile but Iโm more than happy to share the rest!
As someone who practically lives and breathes music, I totally get the 'too many playlists' struggle! It's not a struggle though, right? It's a passion! Creating the perfect soundtrack for every moment, mood, or memory is just so rewarding. After spending countless hours curating my own collection, from upbeat 'summer baby' vibes to chill 'beach' sunsets and even 'tailgate' country anthems like 'Tennessee Whiskey', I've picked up a few tips I'd love to share for anyone wanting to dive deeper into playlist creation. Define Your Vibe First Before you even pick a song, think about the vibe you're going for. Is it a 'slow dancing' playlist for romantic evenings, or a high-energy 'yeaaah' mix for a night out? Knowing the mood helps you select songs with the right tempo, lyrics, and overall feel. For instance, for my 'cute country' playlist, I focus on storytelling tunes like 'I'm Comin' Over' or heartfelt ballads like 'Forever After All' that evoke that specific cozy, down-home feeling. Mix Old and New Favorites Don't be afraid to blend timeless classics with fresh hits. My 'WV' playlist might have a classic 'Ramblin' Man' next to something more contemporary. This keeps things interesting and introduces listeners (or yourself!) to new sounds while still enjoying familiar comfort tracks. It adds depth and a sense of discovery to each listening session. Consider the Flow and Transitions Think of your playlist as a story you're telling through music. Does it build up? Does it wind down? A good transition between songs can make all the difference, creating a seamless and immersive experience. For a 'beach' playlist, I might start with something mellow and atmospheric, build to upbeat tracks like 'Young, Wild & Free' as if the day is progressing, and then gently bring it back down to a sunset vibe. Length Matters (Sometimes!) While my playlists tend to be super long (20+ hours, oops!), sometimes a shorter, more focused mix is perfect for a specific activity or limited timeframe. But for those epic road trips, long study sessions, or just everyday background music, having a deep dive like my 'everything' playlist with tracks like 'No Guidance' and 'Baby' means you won't hear repeats too fast and the music keeps flowing. Listen Actively and Explore The best way to find new music for your playlists is to actively listen and explore. Pay attention to artists similar to those you already love (like diving into more Beyoncรฉ if you love songs like 'Heather' or 'Falling'). Keep an ear out for background music in movies, coffee shops, or even friends' stories. You never know where you'll find the next gem for your 'summer baby' or 'tailgate' playlist. Music discovery is half the fun! Don't Be Afraid to Experiment Sometimes the most unexpected combinations create the best playlists. Maybe a reflective track like 'Cry' from my 'yeaaah' playlist finds its way into a more chill, introspective mix. It's all about what resonates with you and how you want to feel. Your playlists are a reflection of your unique taste and journey! Ultimately, your playlists are a personal expression. So have fun with it, keep exploring new sounds, and enjoy the journey of creating your perfect soundtrack for every moment. What are some of your go-to playlist themes or songs right now? I'd love to hear your tips too!
