I’m caught between the past and who I’m meant to be,
with a heart full of memories and a soul begging to be free.
I’m holding on to love while watching pieces fall,
trying to be enough for everyone while losing myself through it all.
Some days I miss who I was, some days I miss what could’ve been,
somewhere between the hurt and hope, I’m learning to breathe again.
I carry love for yesterday, and questions about tomorrow,
smiling through the chaos while drowning in the sorrow.
I’m not innocent, I’m not broken, I’m just trying to find my way,
learning that healing isn’t something that happens in a day.
And maybe I don’t need all the answers, or a heart that’s never blue
maybe being a beautiful mess means I’m still becoming who I’m meant to.
Because even in the darkest nights, even when I come undone,
there’s still a little light inside me that refuses to be gone.

I've found that recognizing the delicate balance between holding on and letting go allows me to breathe easier and see light even in my darkest moments.
One personal experience that resonates deeply with these feelings is when I faced a major life transition—feeling torn between past memories and the uncertainty of tomorrow. Initially, I tried to be everything for everyone, losing sight of who I was. Yet, through patience and self-compassion, I started to accept that healing is a journey, not a destination. Integrating memories with hope helped me to nurture my soul rather than tether it to sorrow.
The phrase from the poem, 'I sink to the Hantic,' echoes the sensation of feeling swallowed by emotional tides, but it also highlights the resilience to rise again—much like how I learned to find peace amid chaos by practicing mindfulness and reaching out for support. Accepting imperfection and understanding that being a 'beautiful mess' is simply part of becoming reminded me that emotional vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness.
If you find yourself caught between identity and transformation, know that it's okay to miss who you were and wonder about what could have been. The key is to cherish love for yesterday while holding curiosity for tomorrow. This perspective has enriched my self-awareness and helped me embrace each imperfect moment, fostering a deeper connection with myself and others.
That's beautiful, thanks for sharing 🔥
