All of a sudden decided I’m not scared to dyno anymore
Taking on a V4 dyno was a major milestone in my climbing journey. At first, the thought of launching myself into a dynamic move — something that requires both timing and confidence — was intimidating. But once I decided to face that fear head-on, the experience became empowering. A dyno move, especially at the V4 level, tests not only physical strength but mental focus. I remember visualizing the jump several times before actually attempting it, lowering my anxiety. Warming up properly and getting comfortable on the wall helped build the trust in my limbs and grip. My advice for anyone struggling with dynos is to break the move down into parts. Practice explosive power exercises off the wall and try smaller dynos before attempting more challenging problems. Don’t rush it; each attempt builds muscle memory and confidence. Also, using chalk to maintain grip and spotting a clear landing can reduce fears of slipping or falling. Climbers often underestimate the mental barriers, but embracing the jump as part of your progress makes a huge difference. So if you’re hesitating to try dynamic climbing moves, remember that courage grows with every leap. My first V4 dyno was a turning point, and I believe it can be for you too. Keep pushing your limits, and celebrate every dyno conquered—it’s a thrilling way to elevate your climbing skills and mindset.
