Landgraab’s Makeover

After giving Geoffrey, Nancy, and Malcolm Landgraab their much-deserved makeovers, I found myself looking around their iconic Oasis Springs mansion and thinking, 'This place needs a refresh too!' It's such a classic build in Sims 4, but let's be honest, it often feels a bit outdated, especially if you've given the family themselves a modern 'before and after' transformation. So, I decided to tackle the Landgraab house makeover next! My first step was always to walk through the house as if I were a Sim. What feels off? What could be more functional or stylish? For me, the kitchen was a big one. It's usually quite large but can feel very disconnected. I opted for an open-plan kitchen and dining area, knocking down a few walls to create a more flowing space. I chose sleek, modern cabinets and a large island, perfect for Nancy to entertain or for Geoffrey to grab a quick snack (even if he usually prefers fine dining!). Next up was the living room. The original layout can be a bit awkward, so I focused on creating distinct zones: a cozy TV area, a formal sitting space for guests, and perhaps a small reading nook. I pulled inspiration from high-end contemporary designs, using neutral tones with pops of deep jewel colors to maintain that Landgraab luxury feel. Lighting is key here – adding more modern recessed lighting and stylish floor lamps made a huge difference in brightening up those often dimly lit corners. Malcolm's room was a fun project! As a teen, he definitely needed something more reflective of his personality. I went for a gaming setup, a comfortable study area, and some cool, edgy decor. Think black, red, and grey tones, maybe some industrial touches. It was great to imagine him enjoying his updated space after his own character makeover. For Geoffrey and Nancy's master suite, I aimed for ultimate luxury and comfort. Their bedroom got a complete overhaul with a grand new bed, elegant furniture, and a private balcony access. The master bathroom was transformed into a spa-like retreat with a large walk-in shower and a freestanding tub. The 'before' state of this bathroom was functional, but the 'after' is truly a sanctuary! One tip I learned during this massive renovation is to consider the outdoor spaces too. The Landgraab lot is huge, and the pool area and garden can feel neglected. I added more landscaping, updated the pool with modern tiles, and created an outdoor dining area and lounge. It really ties the whole property together. Whether you're doing a full gut renovation or just a cosmetic update, remember to think about the family living there. How would Geoffrey use this space? What would Nancy appreciate? And what about Malcolm's needs? Their personalities, even after their Sim makeovers, should influence the design. Seeing the entire Landgraab estate, both the family and their home, get a fresh look has been incredibly satisfying in my Sims 4 gameplay!
