I realized the baby's cries created a consistent, natural background noise that helped distract me from the usual sensations and sounds that trigger my anxiety while flying. The repetitive nature of the crying acted almost like white noise, grounding me and giving me something non-threatening to focus on. Moreover, witnessing the parents' efforts to soothe their child reminded me of the empathetic and human side of air travel—everyone has their challenges, and babies crying is just part of the experience. It normalized my fears instead of amplifying them. Over time, this helped me stay calmer and more present, allowing me to cope better with the flight. For fellow anxious flyers, I recommend embracing the unpredictability of flying and finding unexpected sources of comfort around you—whether it's the hum of the engines, the chatter of passengers, or yes, even the crying of babies. These can transform soaring anxiety into manageable moments, helping the journey feel less intimidating and more relatable.
