Hey Demon Slayer fans! 👋 I'm so excited to share my latest piece of fan art featuring Sabito and Makomo. While working on this vibrant anime drawing in my sketchbook, I couldn't stop thinking about all the questions we fans have about this iconic duo. It's truly amazing how much impact these two had on Tanjiro, even with their limited time on screen! For those who might be new to the series, Sabito and Makomo were former disciples of Sakonji Urokodaki, just like Tanjiro. They helped train Tanjiro during his arduous preparation for the Final Selection. Sabito, easily recognizable by his orange hair and the fox mask with a distinctive crack, was tough but encouraging. Makomo, with her dark hair and a beautiful floral mask, was gentler but incredibly insightful, correcting Tanjiro's breathing and forms. My artwork aims to capture their distinct personalities, with Sabito on the left and Makomo on the right, their names stylized between them as a tribute to their inseparable bond. I used all my favorite colored pencils to bring them to life on the page! Now, let's dive into the biggest question that always comes up: what exactly was their relationship? I see so many discussions online asking, 'does Sabito love Makomo?' or 'are Sabito and Makomo in love?' and even 'is Makomo related to Sabito?' or 'are Sabito and Makomo siblings?' In the series, it's pretty clear they weren't blood relatives. Urokodaki refers to all his deceased apprentices as his 'children,' suggesting a profound, familial bond developed through their shared training and tragic fate. Most fans, including me, interpret their connection as a deep, platonic, brother-and-sister-like love born from their mutual respect, shared struggles, and ultimately, a shared destiny. They were fellow disciples, deeply caring for each other as part of Urokodaki's family. Their bond is one of the most poignant aspects of the beginning of Demon Slayer, and it's why they're often listed as an 'iconic Demon Slayer duo.' They might not have been romantically involved, but their spiritual connection and unwavering support for each other, even in the afterlife, truly resonate. It's why there's so much 'Makomo fanart' and 'Makomo edits' out there – their story just sticks with you! I hope my drawing captures some of that mysterious yet powerful bond.
