Signs You’re Living Below Your Own Standard✨

Your standards don’t have to stay where survival, habit, or convenience set them. ✨

Sometimes the soft life shift is surprisingly small. Use the good perfume. Stop tolerating the thing that annoys you every day. Say thank you instead of shrinking a compliment. Speak to yourself with a little more respect.

You don’t need permission to decide, this no longer works for me.

Your life starts changing when your standards do. 🤎

What’s one standard you’re raising for yourself right now? 👇🏾

... Read moreLiving below your own standards often feels invisible at first. It’s easy to get caught up in routine, convincing ourselves that small daily annoyances or missed opportunities are just part of life. However, I’ve found that consciously raising my personal standards can create meaningful change and bring a sense of fulfillment. One practice that changed my perspective was embracing the mindset from the “soft life shift” concept: using my favorite perfume on an ordinary day instead of saving it for "special occasions". This simple act reminded me that I’m worthy of joy every day, not just on milestone events. The same went for things like lighting a cherished candle or using nice dinnerware—improving my everyday experience with little luxuries made life feel richer and more intentional. Another awakening came from reevaluating what I had been tolerating. For too long, I accepted uncomfortable habits or draining relationships as part of life. Making a list of what I wanted to change and committing to fixing just one small thing each week gave me a real sense of control and self-respect. It turns out that increasing your standards is not about drastic changes but about consistent small decisions that affirm your worth. I also noticed that the way I spoke about myself internally had a big impact. Brushing off compliments or criticizing myself quietly was a habit I didn’t realize lowered my self-expectations. Changing this by simply responding "thank you" to compliments and speaking kindly to myself started to shift my whole mindset. If you’re wondering how to start raising your standards, try identifying one small, manageable change—whether it’s using a favorite item now, respectfully saying no, or recognizing your worth through kind self-talk. These gradual shifts add up to a more intentional, fulfilling life. Remember, the only permission you need is your own, and every step toward raising your standards is a step toward your best self.
