No More Hyperpigmentation 🫧 Face Wash Routine
I struggled with hyperpigmentation for years until I started this quadruple cleansing routine and committed to wearing sunscreen daily. My skin-picking habit, often triggered by anxiety, made things worse. To break the habit, I put a sticky note over my face in the mirror as a reminder to leave it alone. If I couldn’t see the clogged pours, I wouldn’t touch them.
The key to preventing hyperpigmentation is to cleanse thoroughly, stop picking your skin, and wear sunscreen every day.
When I wear makeup, I follow a four step cleansing method to prevent breakouts. Breakouts cause inflammation, which in turn increases melanin production and leads to dark spots.
Here are the four steps:
🫧 1. Remove all makeup with a makeup wipe.
🫧2. Pre-wash with body wash or bar soap. Initially, I used the Dove beauty bar before switching to the Dove body wash since it’s more sanitary for guests.
🫧3. Clarify skin with witch hazel. This step removes dirt, oil, debris after the first wash. You’d be surprised how much dirt and makeup remains.
🫧4. Wash with a benzoyl peroxide acne foaming wash to prevent future breakouts. If your skin feels very dry afterwards, include hyaluronic acid or aloe vera to your moisturizer routine.
✨Once your washing routine completes, treat and moisturize your skin. ✨
I hope this helps you prevent hyperpigmentation. I was asked to share my facial routine but there’s so many steps, I have to split it up.
All the best,
Jau 💚

Hyperpigmentation can be a frustrating skin concern, often resulting from factors like sun exposure, inflammation, and skin-picking habits. To tackle this, it's vital to adopt a holistic approach to skincare that includes diligent cleansing, regular sunscreen use, and moisture retention. One effective method is the quadruple cleansing routine, which ensures the skin is thoroughly cleansed of impurities. 1. **Makeup Removal**: Start by removing makeup with wipes or an oil-based cleanser to lift surface makeup. This initial step is crucial to prepping the skin for further cleansing. 2. **Pre-wash**: Use a gentle body wash or bar soap like Dove to prepare the skin for deeper cleaning. This step helps to dislodge dirt and prepare your skin for the next treatment. 3. **Clarification**: Incorporate witch hazel to clarify the skin. This step reduces excess oil and debris, revealing a cleaner canvas. Surprising amounts of residue can remain even after initial cleansing. 4. **Deep Cleanse with Benzoyl Peroxide**: Finish with a benzoyl peroxide foaming wash to combat potential breakouts, which can exacerbate hyperpigmentation by causing further inflammation. Follow this up with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid or aloe vera to restore moisture without clogging pores. Daily sunscreen is also essential in protecting the skin from UV damage that leads to dark spots. Stick to non-comedogenic products and be consistent with your routine to see positive changes over time. With dedication and the right products, achieving clearer skin is within reach.

How long have you used dove in your face? I didn’t know about that or thought of doing that! My face randomly breaks out but I’m trying to figure out how to treat it properly and what I’m doing wrong/not doing
