30 Healthy Habits
Here are 30 laws that I enjoy living by:
1. Read and learn new things - Maintaining a growth mindset and exploring new things builds my self-esteem and confidence.
2. Drink water 95% of the time - Most symptoms can be solved by staying hydrated.
3. Turn off phone at night - I value my sleep more than my relationships lol I don’t always turn it off but I enjoy disconnecting in this way to get the best rest possible.
4. Clean home weekly - Growing up I was taught peace flows freely in clean spaces. Maintaining a clean space is easier when I stick to a routine.
5. Take daily walks unless exhausted - Every morning and afternoon I enjoy a 15-min walk. These walks are essential to my relaxed nature and physical health.
6. Know when to rest - As a determined person, I struggled to know when to rest or stop. Now, I’m fluent in rest. When my body needs me to stop, I stop.
7. Talk about money - Financial freedom and education can only come from talking about it with others, sharing what you learn, then adjusting along the way. Financial stress can be detrimental to your overall health if it’s not managed.
8. Wear the same clothes - I minimize the number of decisions I make every day by wearing the same articles of clothing each weekend. I’m the person that buys two or three pairs of the same shirts for casual wear lol my friend called me a cartoon character 😂
9. Drive a cheap car - This benefits my financial health. It minimizes my cost of living, giving me more flexibility and freedom. A massage is nicer than a car note 💆🏽♀️
10. Talk to strangers - Today I bought a pummelo because a Vietnamese lady who barely spoke English had 4 in her basket and taught me about a new fruit. I’m excited to try it! She said to wait three days.
11. Take calculated risks - You have to take risks in life to move forward, love someone, do the things that fulfill you.
12. Keep a morning and bedtime routine - my morning and bedtime routine is the same from Monday - Sunday. It keeps me organized and minimizes stress because I do the same thing over and over again.
13. Value people who give feedback - People who aren’t afraid to give you feedback are GREAT people. They want to see you win and are willing to support you along the way instead of watching you fail. These are the people that will change your life for the better. Love them.
14. Distance myself from negative ppl - People that are fearful and speak negatively about every opportunity you discuss with them are hazardous to your self confidence. I cautiously ask them for support and opinions because 9 times out of 10… I won’t get it anything helpful lol they will bring me down and I’m trying to stay happy.
15. Minimize time on social media - Social media is a great tool for learning about the world… but not necessary. There’s many other tools, like getting out there and living, that provide more value.
16. Complete 3 big tasks max a day - To prevent burnout, I only complete three main tasks max a day. Today I meal prepped, wrote out this blog, and spent time with friends.
17. Enjoy free hobbies with friends - money doesn’t need to be spent to have a good time. Invite people over and share your life with them.
18. Travel to one new place each year - I loveeeee exploring other cultures and learning about their lives. Traveling fulfills my curiosity and fills my belly with delicious food.
19. Eat fruit for dessert - Choosing fruit for dessert is a great way to adjust my body’s cravings.
20. Complete yearly checkups - If I’m paying for insurance, I’m going to use it to keep track of my health and catch things early before they become too difficult to fix.
21. Do a financial checkin monthly - As someone who grew up poor, I refuse to work until I’m 65. For my future self, I sit down monthly to checkin on my progress and get closer to my goals. This helps me keep focused on what’s important and make healthy habits.
22. Listen to my friends - Be a support to those around me when needed. Their wellness is connected to mine.
23. Never buy things on social media - All things sold online aren’t regulated and truly beneficial for us. To make it harder to buy things on impulse, I avoid making purchases through social media apps.
25. Remove shopping apps from phone - I also remove shopping apps from my phone to make it harder to find things I don’t need and create clutter or fill my home with bad decisions.
26. Remove myself from unhealthy spaces - I am quick to leave a group chat, room, party, or event that becomes unhealthy for my wellbeing. I love the space I’m in and unnecessary battles from negative people isn’t worth the energy if I see no benefit.
27. Journal when emotional - Writing out my emotions helps me make sense of them and make the best decisions for myself.
28. Take high doses of vitamin D - As a black woman, my melanin blocks vitamin D, so taking high doses helps me get the right amount I need.
29. Exercise regularly - Stay active is essential!
30. Meal prep weekly- Preparing weekly meals in two hours on one day saves me so much time! I can enjoy my breaks in peace, there’s fewer dishes to clean, and I get a well rounded meal.
These laws help me focus on my self-care, personal growth, and long-term wellbeing. By balancing productivity with rest, financial freedom with enjoying life, and personal time with meaningful connections, I remind myself that life is short. So I strive to live life to the fullest, with no regrets.
live well,
Jau💚

Building a truly healthy lifestyle, as my 30 wellness laws suggest, isn't just about ticking boxes; it’s about creating a sustainable system that supports your well-being in every aspect. I've learned that consistency is key, but so is self-compassion when things don't go perfectly. For instance, one of my core wellness laws is to 'exercise regularly,' but let's be real, some days motivation is just *gone*. Instead of beating myself up, I've found that even a 15-minute walk outside, like my daily afternoon strolls, can make a huge difference. It's not about crushing an intense workout every single day, but about finding movement that feels good and is achievable. And speaking of physical health, my rule to 'drink water 95% of the time' has been a game-changer. Simple, right? But I used to forget! Now, I keep a water bottle at my desk and by my bed, making it hard not to stay hydrated. Beyond the physical, mental and emotional health are pillars of a healthy lifestyle. I used to struggle with overthinking and letting negative thoughts spiral. That's why 'journal when emotional' became so crucial for me. It’s not about writing perfectly, but just getting my feelings out of my head and onto paper. This simple act helps me understand myself better and make clearer decisions. It also connects to my belief in 'valuing people who give feedback' and 'distancing myself from negative people' – surrounding yourself with positive influences can profoundly impact your mindset. Financial well-being is another area that profoundly impacts overall health. My monthly 'financial check-in' isn't just about numbers; it's about peace of mind. Growing up, money was a source of stress, so now I actively engage with my finances to feel in control and work towards my goals. It’s part of taking 'calculated risks' in life, ensuring my financial foundation is strong so I can truly live life to the fullest, just as the OCR mentioned "financial checkin" can keep you on track. Another habit that has profoundly impacted my growth mindset (a keyword from the hashtags and OCR) is to 'read and learn new things.' It keeps my mind active and helps me explore different perspectives, fostering continuous personal growth. What I've really discovered is that a healthy lifestyle is deeply personal. What works for me might need tweaking for you. The journey to a healthy lifestyle isn't a race; it's a marathon filled with small, consistent steps. Don't aim for perfection, aim for progress. Start small, perhaps by picking just one or two of these 'wellness laws' that resonate most with you, and commit to them for a week. See how you feel. The goal is to create habits that truly serve you and help you live well, with more energy, clarity, and joy. Remember, it's about living your best life, not someone else's. Let's connect and share our healthy lifestyle journeys!
