Stretches that helps you sleep 😴
Ditch the late-night scroll and try this super-simple in-bed yoga routine instead! 🛏️ I tried to come up with a flow that ends with you in the best position for sleep. 💤
No mat, no getting up. Just hop in bed and flow through these gentle poses for 5 minutes.
In-Bed Bedtime Yoga Flow:
1. Legs Up the Wall (1 minute)
Scoot your hips as close as you can to the headboard (or just lift your legs straight up). Let your legs rest vertically to calm tired legs and the nervous system.
2. Knees to Chest (hold 30 seconds)
Hug both knees gently into your chest. Rock side to side if it feels good. This releases and massages the lower back.
3. Supine Spinal Twist (30 seconds each side)
Drop one knees to the opposite side while keeping shoulders down and one leg straight. Turn your head the opposite way for a gentle twist.
4. Cat-Cow (30 seconds each, or slow flow between them)
Come onto hands and knees. Arch your back (Cow), then round it (Cat).
5. Child’s Pose (1 minute)
Sink back toward your heels and fold forward over your thighs or a pillow. Let your forehead rest down. Settle into this space since you’ll hold it for one minute.
6. Low Cobra (hold 30 seconds)
Lie on your belly, place hands under shoulders, and gently lift your chest just a little (keep it soft and don’t strain). Then slowly lower back down…
7. Drift off to sleep (aim for 7–8 hours!) 😴
Pro tips:
• Breathe slowly and deeply throughout (try inhaling for 4 counts, exhaling for 6).
• Use pillows for extra support anywhere you need.
• Dim the lights and keep screens away
Why it works:
Gentle yoga before bed helps:
• Reduce stress
• Lower cortisol levels
• Activate the parasympathetic nervous system
This can lead to falling asleep faster, better sleep quality, longer rest, and fewer nighttime awakenings.
Call it melatonin.
Sleep easy,

I totally get it – drifting off to sleep can feel impossible sometimes, especially after a busy day. I used to stare at my ceiling, scrolling through my phone, feeling more restless by the minute. That’s why I was so excited to discover this gentle 5-minute in-bed yoga routine. It’s truly transformed my evenings from anxious tossing and turning into peaceful preparation for deep, restorative sleep. I wanted to share a bit more about why these specific stretches work so well for me and how you can make them even more effective. Let's talk about a couple of my favorites, like the 'Knees to Chest' pose. When I'm lying on my back hugging my knees, I can feel an immediate release in my lower back, which is a lifesaver after sitting all day. I sometimes gently rock side to side, really letting my spine decompress. It's not just a physical release; it’s like a signal to my body that it's time to let go of the day's tension. The OCR description mentions demonstrating this pose, and I can confirm that getting into this position truly feels like an internal hug for your body, preparing it for rest. Then there's the 'Supine Spinal Twist' on the bed. Oh, this one is pure bliss! After a day of hunching over a laptop or carrying bags, my spine often feels stiff. This gentle twist, with my knees dropped to one side while keeping my shoulders grounded, stretches out my entire back and sides. I turn my head the opposite way, and it feels like I'm wringing out any lingering stress. It's incredibly calming and helps me shed any physical and mental baggage from the day. It’s amazing how just 30 seconds on each side can make such a difference in feeling relaxed and ready to sleep. Beyond just the physical stretches, I’ve found that the real magic of this night stretching routine in my bedroom lies in the mindful connection it fosters. By breathing slowly and focusing on each movement, even for poses like the 'Legs Up the Wall' (as shown in the OCR, with legs vertically against the wall), I’m actively telling my nervous system to switch from 'fight or flight' to 'rest and digest.' This activation of the parasympathetic nervous system is key. It's not just about flexibility; it’s about creating a mental space of tranquility. When I'm in 'Child's Pose,' folding forward over my thighs, I feel a sense of security and surrender, letting go of any worries. To truly enhance this relaxing yoga before bed, I've also incorporated a few extra steps into my nightly ritual. Before I even start my gentle stretching, I make sure my bedroom is a sanctuary. I dim the lights, maybe light a calming lavender candle (safely, of course!), and ensure my phone is charging far away from my bed. Sometimes, I’ll sip on a warm, caffeine-free herbal tea. This whole routine, from setting the mood to performing the 'Low Cobra Pose' (gently lifting my chest just a little to open up before sinking into sleep), signals to my body that it’s time to wind down. Consistency is key for me; doing these gentle stretches every night, even when I don't feel like it, has dramatically improved my sleep quality. I encourage you to try it – you might just find your own secret to sleeping like a baby!

I started last night and my body feels so much better! Thank you so much❤️
