april reading recap!!

i’m a little late but that’s okay haha

happy spring!! i read absolute bANGERS in april, and i must share them with you

⭐️ beach read by emily henry

wowowow maybe it’s time i jump on the emily henry train. i always stayed away from adult romance bc im not interested in reading smut but wow this one had a really good ratio for me and had me so EMOTIONAL??? the subplot hit me hard with grief i will not lie

⭐️ you will get through this night by daniel howell

a really lovely and friendly intro to taking care of yourself. some of the things i learned really were so incredibly helpful in breaking things down so that i can process and progress. also love dan howell, and his humor comes through in the book. i read most of it and listened to some. listening was a lot of fun he does some ad libs, i def recommend!

⭐️ killer instinct by jennifer lynn barnes

okay this series is my cable tv like im obsessed and can’t look away but also it is a cheesier series. nothing wrong with that, but jennifer lynn barnes always ropes me into love triangles she’s got a hold on me for sure

⭐️ true love and other impossible odds by christina li

oh my god oh my god i LOVE THIS BOOK!!!! i got this as a digital ARC and it was so so good. I cannot wait for this one to come out. It has similar vibes to loveless but is about a sapphic coming of age story as a college student comes to terms with what she wants from herself, from love, and how to navigate the grief of having lost her mother. this book had me crying like a BABY and i loved it the whole way through. a fantastic YA - definitely recommend preordering this

⭐️ mexikid by pedro martín

a graphic memoir!! a whole other type of book omg who am i? this was a super sweet and lighthearted memoir delving into what it is to be growing up in the US and going back to learn about your mexican roots as told from the authors more childlike perspective. also made me emotional but that may just be bc i am also the child of immigrants 🖤

have you read any of these? what did you think? which sounds most interesting to you? lmk!!!

... Read moreApril was a fantastic month for reading, with numerous standout titles that deserve attention. One of my favorites, 'Beach Read' by Emily Henry, has captivated many with its emotional depth and relatable characters, making it a must-read for fans of contemporary romance. 'You Will Get Through This Night' by Daniel Howell offers a supportive guide to mental wellness and self-care, infused with humor that makes the reading experience enjoyable. For those who appreciate thrilling series, 'Killer Instinct' by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is an absolute page-turner, combining suspense with intricate character dynamics. You can also look forward to 'True Love and Other Impossible Odds' by Christina Li, a poignant coming-of-age tale that addresses topics of love, loss, and identity, resonating specially with young adult readers. Finally, 'Mexikid' by Pedro Martín presents a heartwarming graphic memoir that reflects the immigrant experience, providing a unique perspective on cultural identity and growth. Each of these reads not only provides entertainment but also sparks important conversations about personal experiences and emotional resilience.
