From my experience delivering my fourth baby, I realized the importance of having a well-thought-out bag ready early, but life doesn’t always go as planned! One funny moment during my solo delivery was the labor and delivery nurses cheering me on once they found out I was handling everything alone because I had to keep my other kids safe at home. Packing light became my theme, and surprisingly, I only had a phone charger with me, which turned out to be vital for staying connected and passing time. This experience taught me that while it’s great to have all the traditional toiletries and baby items pre-packed, sometimes the essentials are what truly matter. For moms planning their hospital stay, I recommend including an extra phone charger, comfortable clothes, snacks, and items that bring you calmness during labor. Remember, pregnancy and postpartum journeys differ vastly for each person. What worked for me might inspire you to simplify or better prepare in your own way, especially if you’re managing a busy household or multiple children. Don’t beat yourself up if your hospital bag isn’t perfect the first time — motherhood is beautifully imperfect, and shared stories help us all feel more connected and supported.
