Loc Styles Ranked

⚠️Warning⚠️ (All rating are based on my personal experiences with the style so it WILL be biased 😅)

Number 4: Two Strand Twists (to the back)

Style:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It’s clean 😎 and keeps my hair out of my face. One of the newer styles I found on TikTok and decided to try out. No problems at all and looks nice all the time. 5 Stars!

Comfort:⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Itchiness wasn’t as bad in the last few week of having the style in (unlike with barrel twists 😒) but I caught myself patting my head a few times throughout the day 😂 In the beginning I was kind of scared to mess with it but I ended up finding out it was way more flexible than I thought it would be (shown in the versatility part).

Versatility:⭐️⭐️⭐️

Three stars when it comes to versatility (not bad) because surprisingly I was able to put it up into a bun 😂

Only bonus style that I could do with this style and I loved it. Buns are the best so yeah that one style boosted the whole rating!

... Read moreThe original article gave a great personal review of two-strand twists to the back, especially highlighting how versatile they were for forming a bun. But what if you're looking for even more ways to rock this awesome style, or wondering how it holds up for different hair lengths? As someone who’s constantly experimenting with my locs, I totally get wanting to maximize your style options and comfort. Let's dive into some practical tips and other popular ways to style your two-strand twists, whether you have short, medium, or long locs! Beyond the Basic Bun: More Styling Ideas for Two-Strand Twists While a bun is fantastic for keeping your hair out of your face and looking neat, two-strand twists offer so much more versatility. Here are a few ideas I've tried or seen that look amazing: High Pineapple Updo: This is a classic for a reason! Gather all your twists at the very top of your head and secure them with a soft hair tie or scrunchie, letting the ends fall freely. It’s chic for a night out and keeps your neck cool. This works especially well for medium to long twists. Half-Up, Half-Down: For a more relaxed but still styled look, take the top section of your twists (from your temples upwards) and gather them into a small bun or ponytail at the crown of your head. Leave the rest of your twists flowing down your back or shoulders. This is perfect for showcasing both the twisted texture and your length. Side-Swept Elegance: Simply sweep all your two-strand twists over one shoulder. You can secure a few pieces at the back with a bobby pin to keep them in place. This creates a sophisticated, asymmetrical look that’s surprisingly easy to achieve. Accessorize It: Don't underestimate the power of accessories! Scarves, headbands, and decorative clips can instantly elevate any twisted style. A patterned scarf wrapped around a high bun or a simple band across your forehead can add a personal touch. For Shorter Twists: Even if your twists aren’t long enough for a full bun, you can still play with parting. A deep side part or zig-zag part can give your short two-strand twists a fresh, new look. You can also experiment with small clips or beads at the ends of your twists for added flair. Maintaining Comfort and Longevity The original post mentioned some itchiness, which is super common with new styles. Keeping your scalp moisturized is key. I swear by a light leave-in conditioner or a natural oil blend (like jojoba or tea tree oil) applied directly to my scalp a few times a week. Gentle patting instead of scratching can also prevent irritation. To make your two-strand twists last longer, especially if you want to avoid frizz, try sleeping with a satin bonnet or pillowcase. This reduces friction and helps keep your twists looking fresh and neat. When they start to get a bit fuzzy, a light mist of rosewater can sometimes help redefine them without needing a full re-twist right away. Whether you're rocking bun two-strand twist updos or exploring new styles, remember that your locs are an extension of your personality. Don't be afraid to experiment and find what makes you feel best!
